Hat

Tuesday, March 15, 2011

How the heck would rope make you look mean? "Edward Teach was an infamous pirate who thought his men to be ruthless whilst sailing the seven seas. What other name did Mr. Teach go by?

Your answer: Blackbeard

Blackbeard would stuff burning rope under his hat to make himself look more fearsome and he tied black ribbons onto the end of braids that he had put into his beard. Edward Teach, aka Blackbeard, was eventually killed in a fight with Lieutenant Robert Maynard of the Royal Navy when one of Maynard's men shot him as he was fighting with Maynard. Lieutenant Robert Maynard beheaded Blackbeard and hung the disembodied head from the bow of his ship as a warning to all other pirates."

Yea, I hear gun powder can make you high. That is in the Lord of War movie too. It is VERY bad for you, however.

I remember the first time I visited the palace of Versailles when young. Trivia today online: "What was the name of the body which is the predecessor of the United Nations?

Your answer: The League of Nations

The League of Nations was an inter-governmental organization founded as a result of the Treaty of Versailles in 19191920, and the precursor to the United Nations. At its greatest extent from 28 September 1934 to 23 February 1935, it had 58 members. "

Woot! Got my top fav answer in online trivia today! "Bela Lugosi starred in the classic 1931 film version of what vampire story?

Your answer: Dracula

Bela Lugosi became typecast as a horror actor in films such as "Dracula", "Murders in the Rue Morgue", "The Raven", "Son of Frankenstein" and "White Zombie". He died of a heart attack on August 16, 1956 and was buried in one of his Dracula stage play costumes."

Time

Friday, March 04, 2011

I have had to cut back on the time I spend on workouts. The doctors found non cancerous tumors in my stomach area. After the surgery on the 14th, I should be able to start "real" workouts again. (After a bit of healing time.) However, for now, the pain is too bad and too dangerous to workout with. It seemed like I was starting to make progress! Oh well, I can work out again before too much muscle is lost. Also, I have still been able to do tiny workouts at the gym of 20 min three times per week.

I had heard this before: "Which is the largest of the Greek islands?

Your answer: Crete

At 3,219 square miles, Crete is only slightly smaller than either Cyprus or Puerto Rico. It is the largest of the Greek islands, and the fifth largest island in the Mediterranean. Crete was the home of the Minoans, Europe's first advanced civilization (2700-1400 BC)."
