I do NOT like Adolf, yet I am car shopping lately. It it very odd, the attitutdes that car manufacturers have had over the years. Some really want to help the consumer, while others go in for the programed obsolescence, bad materials, and shoddy workmanship. German engineering, even if it is controversial, is a world leader in car manufacture. More people die on freeways every ten years then all the major world wars, true fact. Germans invented the freeway system, and there is NO speed limit on the autobahn. "Which of these cars was designed by Ferdinand Porsche under the orders of Adolf Hitler to create a "people's car"?
Your answer: Volkswagen Beetle
The car was officially known as the Volkswagen Type 1, but soon acquired the nickname "Käfer", which is German for "beetle". The idea was that Porsche would design an affordable car for every citizen of the Third Reich - but war started before the Volkswagen went fully into production. After the war, during the occupation, the cheap car soon proved itself, and by the time production ceased in 2003, over 21 million of them had been manufactured. "
