I stuck to it!

Saturday, January 01, 2011

This is my second Sparkpeople account. The first one I started on New Years of 2010. I vowed as my New Years resolution I would start the 10,000 step a day fitness plan. First I would track my steps every day. Second, I would get 10,000 steps a day, on average, every day for every week. Third, I would track it, every day on a sheet of paper as a fitness journal log. I would add it to my normal monthly journal I have kept since high school. I did it! I got the 10,000 a day every week, or more steps! Many weeks I broke more then 12,000 a day! (It takes two hours a day at the Planet Fitness gym on the fitness equipment to get ten thousand on my pedometer.) I made a New Years resolution, that required life changes, and I stuck to it. Every day, all year long, it really happened! I am happy for this realization that the year has passed, and I stayed going strong.

That is great - so happy for you. A goal that I will have this year too - and working my way toward it; came pretty close today; maybe tomorrow will actually hit the 10,000...

I quit playing video games as a New Years resolution this year. Wow has a great deal of polearm weapons in it. "The lance is a polearm based on the spear and used by cavalry in battle and in tournaments. The lance used in tournaments can be up to 4m long with a blunted tip. The objective was not to kill the opponent, but to knock him off his horse. Of course, the lances used in war were anything but blunt, and rather stouter!"

I got way too many Christmas cards this year. In addition I got the British lit class I wanted on my night school schedule for next semester! Woot! I am also taking nursing classes online. Many types of nursing are required to study and take the Hippocratic Oath as well, once a religious oath to the god Apollo. "Which profession takes the Hippocratic Oath?

Your answer: Doctors

The Hippocratic Oath, written nearly 2500 years ago, is concerned with the ethical practice of medicine. It is named after the ancient Greek physician, Hippocrates. "

Wow! We haven't gotten a single card yet! Of course, I haven't sent any, either, other than ecards. I guess we have pretty much opted out of the season.

Good luck with your classes! I absolutely loved going to school (physical therapy) . The best fields are medical! Yay! emoticon

Mark Twain is a top fave of my books. " Some of Samuel Langhorne Clemens' works include "The Prince and the Pauper" and "A Connecticut Yankee in King Arthur's Court". How was he better known?

Your answer: Mark Twain

All are well-known authors and 19th century contemporaries of each other. Lewis Carroll was also a pen name. Mark Twain also wrote "The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn" and "The Adventures of Tom Sawyer", amongst many others."

For a real kick, you may wish to read "A Pen Warmed In Hell"... Samuel Langhorne Clemens really puts into perspective his views on a LOT of issues. Still very relevant today actually...

The Internet is often though of as a distraction to work, more then a boon. Yet the two can help each other. Many people talk about Angelina's adopted kids. However, she is a natural working mom as well, and I respect that is hard work. (Even with money for daycare, it is no picnic.) "Hollywood stars often receive a lot of publicity when adopting children. What Oscar-winning actress has not only adopted children, but has also had several of her own with Brad Pitt?

Your answer: Angelina Jolie

Angelina Jolie adopted Maddox from Cambodia in 2002 and Zahara from Ethiopia in 2005. Brad Pitt legally adopted both children as well in 2006. Jolie and Pitt had a daughter, Shiloh, in 2006, and twins, Knox and Vivienne, in 2008. She also adopted a 3 year old, Pax, from Vietnam in 2007. (She applied for the adoption as a single parent, since Vietnam's adoption laws make it harder for an unmarried couple to adopt)."

Big Angelina fan huh? Kudos to anyone that has enough love to go around! Children don't really care who loves them as long as they are loved appropriately by someone. Have a great day! Interesting blog...Thanks!
