That is an awesome quote...one of my goals right now is to take time for me. I have felt in the past taking time for me was wasted time, not anymore.

When I was a kid I used to pray every night for a new bicycle. Then I realised that the Lord doesn't work that way so I stole one and asked Him to forgive me.

A Girl, Her Bike and the Wind....

Sunday, January 08, 2012

Wind sucks! Today was so windy I only made it 17.3 miles (30 MPH gusts with sustained 20 MPH winds). It started out well enough but the last 30 minutes were interesting to say the least. I saw a guy almost get hit by a car. The guy behind him yelled and he looked up and was able to stop, barely grazing the hood of the car that was paying no attention to the bike path. The guy was tucked because of the wind (so was I). Not a half mile later a little kid (7 or 8 maybe) was blown into a fence. He skinned his knees but was otherwise okay. His Mom was completely freaked out though. Then I was cruising along with a guy just behind me and slightly to my right side (drafting is my guess). Out of no where came a palm tree leaf. It grazed my cheek and right arm (leaving a couple really red angry welts) but it took the guy out. It hit him directly head on and he went down. I stopped to try to help him. He was scrapped and bleeding from falling on the concrete bike path but said he was good. At that point I decided to head home even though I was way short of 25 miles. I don't know what the little round balls from the trees around here are all about but when they gang up on you they suck! I was almost home when a herd or pack of them came rolling toward me. My bike went left and I went right. Weird thing happened though. I was still standing? Must have been my lucky day. I did stop at the corner gas station for lottery tix! Tomorrow is another day, hopefully calm winds!

    Wow! A definite Windy Day!
We have been having strange winds too, but that may change tonight when the snow arrives.
Loved hearing about your adventure though, would like more of you somtimes.

    Whow - That's scarry.

I hate riding on a windy day but seem to do it more often then I would like but I need the exercise and enjoy cycling.

A good sermon should be like a woman's skirt: short enough to rouse the interest, but long enough to cover the essentials.
