Phase I - extended!

Tuesday, May 29, 2012

I fell of the wagon for 2 days. So, I'm adding an extra 4 days to Phase I to try to make up for it.

I'm experiencing a myriad of feelings right now - sadness, anger, happiness, excitement, joy, disappointment.

Read about it:

I am surprisingly excited about the addition of the 4 days to Phase I. I like the way my body feels when I'm eating right. Right now (after my 2 days of debauchery), I feel sick. I want to feel clean and light.

This is a journey. And I went off course, which cost me two days in my journey - and ended up adding 4 to my trip...but it's about the journey and not the final destination - right? So, sexy, bikini clad Jenn will have to be pushed off at least 4 more days. All in good time.

I've decided to push my weigh in off as well. I'm too fragile to handle the numbers on the scale, or the measurements right now. So, a week from today - Phase II will start and I will weigh myself and take measurements and Post Phase I photos. :)

Thank you all for the great feedback!

I've been with sparkpeeps for a few years now and have lost, and gained, and lost over the last few years. I know how to make healthy lifestyle choices, and I've followed the SP meal plans, as well as creating my own menus over the last couple of years.

But, I wanted to try something different - to challenge myself and see if I can eat clean, and as close to the earth as possible.

The "17 Day Diet" is not a "diet" - it's a lifestyle change. There are 4 cycles to help you ease in to your lifestyle and jump start weight loss. The first 3 are to be repeated until you reach your goal, and then you follow the maintenance plan. The first cycle encourages plenty of vegetables and lean protein. The second encourages the same, as well as the reintroduction of whole, healthy, grains such as quinoa, oats, brown rice, etc. The third cycle allows the introduction of most all foods, except overly processed foods, and focuses on portion control of the various food groups. And the fourth and final cycle has you continuing your healthy choices to maintain your weight and fitness.

@Cherylsbutt - My energy level is back to normal after the 2nd day. :) And yes, I'm taking a multi-vitamin. Thank you! I'm also getting plenty of nutrients - lots of veggies, lots of protein, dairy, and fresh fruit!

@Redshoes2011 - I'm entering all my food and following my calorie requirements per SP (except for the carb section, which I'm on the lower side of). Thank you for the link for the BMR calculator! I've had my BMR tested with my naturopath (it's pretty close to the two ranges on the site). I'm not super active right now, so I've been leaning toward the lower end of the calorie range.

I'm down 3.6 pounds so far! Thanks for checking in and for the support!

I agree with Cheryl.. Mimic sparkspeoples generated suggestions using lean sources of nutrition and stay within the calorie range. Use their suggestions to get structure at meal times.. Also body fat composition is much more important than the number on the scales.. The scales only show movement of food, fluids, wastes and where we are in our monthly cycle..
.org can tell you how to use the calorie range in relationship to exercise..
We don't decide how much to eat, our energy output decides where we sit in the calorie range..

You are the second person today I heard of being on the 17 day diet.
I wish you well. however I think SP might teach you a few things about eating...not dieting....your energy is down because your body is craving nutrietnts not found in your diet. Are you taking a multi-vitamin on this adventure?

Best to the both of you! I think the photos would be motivational. My cousin did that and it was a great inspiration. Being photo shy myself, I understand not wanting to do it. Why don't you start Josh? I'm sure Jennifer wouldn't mind taking the picture - right?
