40,000 spark points reached today

Wednesday, October 05, 2011

I just wanted to mark this day because I just earned my 40,000 Spark Point. I want to see how long it takes me to earn 50,000. I really enjoy the challenge of earning the points and because I am painfully honest I do not mark any points unless I earn them. I always drink my water, and record my food and read the articles etc. I have never been particularly competitive so earning points just for myself has been very rewarding. So today October 5 2011 at 1:00pm I am officially a 40000 point Sparker. YEA

2 year Anniversary

Saturday, July 30, 2011

This was me two years ago unbelievable how I had let myself go. I didn't even realize it until my uncle took this picture of me and I saw it. I do know at that time I was at the lowest point of my life. I felt my life was falling apart, I had never been more miserable then I was then. I was fast approaching 60 years old which totally freaked me out and I really had no where to go except up. Then I learned of SparkPeople by accident. I logged on and set my goal for losing the weight in one year, the date I turned 60. I followed the plan and in that first year I lost 80 pounds. I was pretty scared because in the past I have lost weight (but never 80 pounds) and always gained it back. I knew this time had to be different. So for the past year I have worked ever so hard at keeping the weight off. I still exercise and record my food. Oh I have gained a few pounds but I get right back to limiting my food until the pounds are gone. I know it has only been a year but I have never ever kept weight I lost off this long. This gives me hope that this is it. I know I need to keep recording and exercising and praying. I never what to be that person in the picture again.

Another milestone

Monday, May 30, 2011

With todays log in I have a 365 day streak going...that is one whole year of logging in every day. I am pretty darn proud of this. I have never been a consistent person in my life. But if I have learned one thing using this web site it is you have to USE THIS WEB SITE. It has been such a great tool and I have taken advantage of all it has to offer. I just recently joined another team and am getting to know a whole other group of people who have the same struggles as I do. I never believed complete strangers could have such a positive effect on me and now many of those strangers are my friends with lots more to come.

This is so amazing! I am truly impressed! I also agree, it is fascinating how people who start as "complete strangers" support and help one another when they have never officially met. Love this about SP!! Keep going!

Pat I couldn't agree more, the people who use this site are on a whole a positive lot and the old negative me soon saw the value of positivity.
The site is amazing, I found it purely by accident googling for weight loss sites and have gotten to know some extraordinary sparkers.

I made a discovery today

Monday, April 18, 2011

I realized for the first time in as long as I can remember I have no clothes in my home that are too small. This might seem like a strange thing to celebrate but celebrate I am. Because I have always had several sizes of clothes, many way too small and a few too big. I have rid my closet of all clothes that were to big since I will not need them again, but being able to fit in all the clothes I out grew over the years is a first for me. Yea me. Plus I was wanting to do every thing on the Spark points list so I needed to blog about something. This is it.

Congratulations Pat! That is just so wonderful to hear. That's the whole purpose of being on this site, isn't it? To lose and lose and lose until you finally fit into the jeans stuck in the bottom of the drawer that you can't even get to the tops of your legs, let alone get them up over your hips and zipped up! LOL emoticon emoticon

SCOTTLINE 4/29/2011 4:44PM

Pat, this is so great!! Like the others I can't remember ever not having multiple sizes in my closet. Always fearing I may need those big sizes again and prayer that I'll shrink into the small sizes. I hope someday I can rid myself of clothing overload.

Size 14 clothes gone

Monday, March 07, 2011

I finally packed up all my size 14 pants and donated them to Good Will. Now I have gotten rid of all my size 18, size16 and now size 14. This is a big step for me. In all my years of losing and gaining weight I never gave away clothes that were too big or too small until now. I am wearing a size 10 and have a few 12 that's fit OK so I will keep all of these. It is such a good feeling to finally believe in myself enough to know I will not gain back the weight I got rid of and I will never need to wear those larger size clothes again.

Thanks for your comments on my blog. I think you are doing great. I am afraid to give my clothes away just yet. I am superstitious, because in the past when I gave them away I needed them again. This way I am hedging all my bets.
