So far so good on my business trip. Flight from Philadelphia to Raleigh on time and actually arrived early into Raleigh, nice dinner (and reasonably healthy) at the hotel last evening, up at 5AM to get a workout in (state of the art equipment!), and able to find healthy choices for breakfast and lunch.
Just a hunch, but I have a feeling this will not be my last business trip - seems like there will be more opportunities in the new year, and a real need for me to be here.
More to follow as the week progresses.

While my DW and I have traveled a few times since I had my WLS last year, I will be taking my first solo trip next week, and a business trip on top of it. While I'm not trying to obsess about it, I am doing a fair amount of planning, such as making sure the hotel I am staying in has good workout facilities, moving my workouts on my calendar to early AM (my normal workouts are at lunchtime, but that is not feasible given that I will be in all day meetings), and making sure I have access to quality foods.
I used to travel on business a lot, and in thinking back, did not give much, if any thought, into nutrition and exercise. Giving it LOTS thought this time!
I'll plan to do a post mortem when I get back. I will do some blogging while I'm on the road as well.
I have a high degree of confidence that I will do well....

Normally Mondays can be crazy, but since I have some vacation to use up before the end of the year, I started taking some Mondays off, and in some ways they are nicer to take off than a Friday.
Caught up on my shows on DVR, will go do some office cleaning, but at a relaxed pace, then I'm guessing my DW will want to go do dinner out. The rest of the week will be busy, but at least I'm easing into it!

We survived Sandy! We did end up getting over 8" of rain, as forecasted, but we were spared the really bad winds that folks in NJ, PA, and NY got -- peak wind gust was around 60 mph. For those of you who are professional or amateur meteorologists (I am an amateur), one of the most amazing things I experienced was the low pressure from this storm -- it dropped to 957.5 MB (28.27 on the barometric scale) -- easily the lowest I've ever been near! The eye came very close to us, and that is an experience I will always remember.
The only damage we experienced is some of the lattice in our vinyl fence came loose, but it is at the top of the fence and is not a structural issue, so I will get out and get that fixed later today.
All told, we were lucky, but glad to have lady luck on our side for a change!

Sandy has made her presence felt last evening and into this morning. Over 3" of rain so far, with the forecast of up to 8" possible. Amazingly enough, that amount of rain would still not get us back to "normal" for the year -- we are close to 12" under for the year!
Off and on gusts of wind, but nothing like what we will get later today and tonight as Sandy approaches. Keeping my fingers crossed that the power stays on, but we're as prepared as we can be if it does go out.
