1st Goal Acheived!!

Good morning!

A nice way to start a cold day in CT -- acheiving a weight goal 1 month ahead of schedule!

My goal was to be at 277 by my birthday (3/15). I weighed myself this morning and -- I am at 276 -- so I've actually beat the goal by a pound a month ahead of schedule!

Success factors:

- Tracking EVERYTHING I eat (and staying within goals)
- Much more fruit and veggies in my diet
- Water, water, water
- Increased exercise
- Support (SP and home)

The best part -- I haven't had to starve myself. In fact, I have a hard time getting to my target calorie count each day.

And the clothes are starting to fit loose again. It's all good.

Here's to my next goal -- 272 by my birthday!

The "skinny" :-) --

- Lost 3 more pounds this past week (total of 6 since I started)
- 2 " gone from my waistline (granted, there's a lot there, but...)
- 1/2" gone from my neck and hips
- Moved from Stage 1 to Stage 2

Why I think this happened:

- Logging my calories
- Increased exercise
- Water!

I was pretty jazzed by losing 3 pounds last week - I can't think of the last time I stepped on a scale and saw a decrease. Exercise hasn't been the main issue (although I know I can do more) -- it was the food!

I have found that entering my food after each meal really causes me to think about what I am eating. Likewise, having the water counter has made me much more conscience about how much water I drink.

Yesterday, I went out for my walk, and while I had planned to go for 30 minutes, I ended up going 50. It felt good (even though it was cold!).

I am feeling the momentum -- I think this year I will be able to get myself in much better shape.

    congrats on the 3 lb loss!!! I agree, I have to log right away that way I feel more accountable as to what I'm eating.

woohoo on the longer than expected walk! I did 30 minutes of aerobics today and also am hoping to get the dogs out for a 30 minute walk (depending on how cleared off the sidewalks are)

Good news -- I lost 3 pounds last week! The best part was that it was not nearly as hard as I thought. Better meal planning and 2 more walks per week were the keys.

Of course, I can do more, and as my wife pointed out, there will be weeks where I may not lose at all. But, for the moment, I will enjoy this small victory (as I sip on my water bottle!).

OK -- a week has passed, and tonight aftter my two classes at my health club I will be weighing in. I'm excited and a little nervous. I've been far from perfect this past week, but only one day did I go over my calories. I don't think that would have been true for the past several months (had I been tracking my calories).

The things I still need to work on:

- More fruits and veggies
- Getting in my snacks
- Getting closer to my calorie goal (I was low 5 out of 6 days -- but of course the one day I was WAY over).
- Getting more planned exercise on the weekends.

All in all, not a bad week. Room for improvement, and if the scale says I lost at least a pund, then I catagorize it as a good week.
