Good news -- I lost 3 pounds last week! The best part was that it was not nearly as hard as I thought. Better meal planning and 2 more walks per week were the keys.

Of course, I can do more, and as my wife pointed out, there will be weeks where I may not lose at all. But, for the moment, I will enjoy this small victory (as I sip on my water bottle!).

OK -- a week has passed, and tonight aftter my two classes at my health club I will be weighing in. I'm excited and a little nervous. I've been far from perfect this past week, but only one day did I go over my calories. I don't think that would have been true for the past several months (had I been tracking my calories).

The things I still need to work on:

- More fruits and veggies
- Getting in my snacks
- Getting closer to my calorie goal (I was low 5 out of 6 days -- but of course the one day I was WAY over).
- Getting more planned exercise on the weekends.

All in all, not a bad week. Room for improvement, and if the scale says I lost at least a pund, then I catagorize it as a good week.

  


1st try on the guitar

I finally got my guitar and slipped in the Estaban DVD and spent about 20 minutes practicing tonight. I need to make it even easier to grab my guitar during the day (a nice break).

    my advice would be to get a book on chord structure, if you need any advice just ask :)

I have a link to youtube where my daughter is playing a song I taught her in one day (it was her first try at guitar) well, it is more of an exercise. I think you'll be impressed (she is 12). This video was taken about 2 weeks after I showed it to her and she had been practicing.

Did you get a steel string, nylon string or electric?

I've now been on my SP plan (I won't use the word diet) for three days now. My wife has joined me on it, so that makes it more fun. I was surprised how many calories the plan wants me to consume during the fast break phase -- 3000! I've actually not been able to get to that # yet, but I had a very hearty breakfast this morning, so I think I'll get closer today.

I've always resisted the idea of counting calories and tracking food, but being able to do it online and using the wealth of info in the food tracker makes it manageable.

Here's to 1 pound a week!
