My Take On My Monday Meditation

The last quote of the Monday Meditation is what spoke to me...it was a aha moment...

If we tell ourselves we are failures...we will be, even if though we weren't to begin with...if we tell ourselves we are fat...we are going to be...if we tell ourselves nobody could possibly love us...they won't...and everything around us will reflect what we told ourselves.

Now the questions and my answers....

Questions to ponder:

1. Why might we tend to base our worth (or feelings of unworthiness)
on the things that we accomplish--or fail to accomplish?

Because that is what is instilled in us from society...and ourselves.

2. What are some ways that we might improve our self-esteem?

Positive self talk.

3. How do we fall into the trap of developing low self-esteem?

Allowing others to belittle us...by talking down to ourselves...

About Spa Weekend...Part 2

Today i started riding my stationary bike for 15 minutes. For me...that's good... i committed to 5 minutes a day the beginning of last week, building up to 10 by weeks end. This week, i recommitted to 15 minutes....that on top of the every day strength training exercises i have been doing daily...wohoo!!! i am so proud of me...

as for the spa weekend....wohoo!!! only days away...and i'm ecstatic...today, i'm going to share a chapped lip spa treatment.

Lip Exfoliate Treatment

1/4 c sugar
1 Tbsp honey
1 tsp olive oil
a drop of peppermint oil (if you have)

Mix together and adding enough water to make a paste.

Hold a warm wet washcloth over lips for a few minutes. Rub sugar mixture over lips for a minute, enough to get dead skin off but not long enough to irritate.

Rinse off with warm water and apply favorite chap stick.

I sure wish I could stop being influenced by my husband's attitude of needing to accomplish something to be worthwhile. I'm so glad my Mom showed us kids unconditional acceptance and love as individuals. She was great at separating the worth of the individual and the person's behavior. I wish she was still on this earth so I could talk with her. It will be a year since she passed away the end of May. Getting Ready For Spa Weekend

Last year, mom and i took a night off and treated ourselves to a hotel with a hot tub. We also pampered ourselves with homemade spa treatments and did our own facials, manicures and pedicures...along with a soothing milk bath and hair treatment...and though this was nice... trying to fit it all into one night was a little much...This year, we are going to go get the mani/pedi's done professionally. Neither of us normally like our feet touched by other people...my whole family is that way...lol...but this year, as part of a birthday present to ourselves...we are getting one done...last year, i made a banana/mayo hair mask... now this is great for a home treatment...but to have sit in a hot car all day to take to a hotel...not such a good idea...lol...so this year i just bought an avon hair mask...but will give you the home version i like.

Banana Hair Mask
For very dry or damaged hair.
Materials:
1 banana
2-3 dollops of mayonnaise
1 tbls olive oil

Instructions:
Put banana in blender and puree until completely smooth. (You don't want clumps of banana in your hair.) Then add mayo and oil and blend until smooth and creamy. Apply to hair. Let sit for 15-30 minutes. Rinse with warm water and shampoo as usual.

Finally Caught Up On SP

Phew...it's amazing what 1 week away from a computer can do...lol....but emails are finally caught up...my points have been entered...and the penny challenge is now ready for posting again... all totals entered...not that i had a lot of pennies from those days away from the computer...lol...but i did get some :)

The week is done...and the weekend is here...and some me time is in order...wohoo!!!

Getting Healthy Together

Well the other girl i work with and i are helping each other with our lifestyle changes... finding healthier stuff to eat...and now i will be bringing breakfast for both of us each morning...she brings me coffee each morning, and i know as a single mom of younger kids than mine, how hard it is to find the money and time to eat healthy...though she has been doing really good considering...this way i'm keeping me from caving to something totally wrong and helping her...it's a win win situation :) it really is so much easier with someone beside you.
