And The Office Laughs Together

Wednesday, March 04, 2009

at me...uhg...lol...i felt like an updated modern version of I Love Lucy today... so let me tell ya the story... the customer wants the original copy of a bill of lading...but without the tracking sticker over the bill to info...which mind you...should not be there anyways... i try to explain that the stickers don't come off..just tear off...leaving a hole...so he wants me to call the shipper..the shipper can't fax their copy because it's in transit to the filing room... so back to me...i have to get this sticker off...after explaining to him and his boss that i can't... he orders me to ask my boss if i can...i then explain it isn't a matter of what the boss says i can or cannot do...it will still rip a hole in the page either way...leaving nothing there... not even the billing information... he then tells me to write it on there and fax to him... i can't do that...that is a legal document...so i go to my boss...what should i do...he calls his boss...who says get a hair dryer and heat it up...ok..yea...like we all bring our hair dryers to work with us... now this is the point where you have to imagine... i'm in a panic...the customer wanted this 10 minutes before he called...and it's now 20 minutes after he called... so i grab the heater from under my desk...me in front of it...sweating mind you...holding the paper against it to heat the sticker...and i start the job of pulling it away from the paper...with my dear boss cheering me on with "go slowly... slowly...don't rip it...sloooooowly...." at this point...all i can do is growl "this is going way above and beyond the call of duty" which got the everyone in the office laughing... and yea... me to...lol... after all is said and done...i got it off...and it didn't even look like anything was over the bill to info....my job was done... and they say customer service is an easy job...hmph... i'll beg to differ... emoticon

Yeah, I guess the customer IS always "right"...and I'm sure customer service is very difficult most of the time. You did great yesterday! Hopefully your employer recognizes all that you do.

Good grief!! That certainly is WAY above the call of duty! That's the kind of thing that got me to head out of the customer service sector... LOL

Great resourcefulness!

Today's Healthy Reflection

You'll never miss the water, 'til the well runs dry.
- W.C. Handy

Oh how true...i have lived it in fact...ok, the well did not run dry...the pump went out... this was a couple years ago, but thinking about this quote brought about this memory and how easy it is for us to go through it, yet as soon as we have it back...forget how thankful we should be... without water...you can't bath...wash your hair...and brushing your teeth is a drag...flushing a toilet is impossible without water...and dishes...uhg... what happens when our tap runs dry... when we don't take time for ourselves... we, like that well...will run dry... we won't be able to function...at least not nearly as well when our well's are full... let's resolve not only to make sure we are full of that life substaining water... but both figuratively and non figuratively...

Marching Into March

Sunday, March 01, 2009

The first of the month is always so exciting for me...it's like new year's...12 months a year... a time to make a new start...get rid of the old baggage that has been trying to get me down and bring in a fresh start... March is one of the hardest for me though...see...my father passed away 3 years ago...a week before my birthday... but, he is still with me...watching... and taking care of me... within these last 3 years, i have grown into the woman he always knew i could be...i think he would be proud of how i have grown from this pain and became a better person... no...it wasn't easy... still isn't at times... but grow i did... and this month, i will continue and to grow mentally and spiritually while i shrink physically ;)

So let's all bring March in marching away :)

My Gripe-Nuts Nuts & More Nuts

Thursday, February 26, 2009

I haven't had a gripe for a while...and figured it was time... :) my current gripe is nuts...about 6 years ago, i was eating a wedding cake cookie that contained a macadamia nut...i didn't know i was allergic...but one little bite made it quite apparent. luckily i have always had allergies to something, and knew the warning signs...but even knowing and being able to react quickly was almost not enough... because of that incident, i can no longer eat any nut without a reaction... and possible death...i am not alone in this... in fact it is said that nut allergies cause the most severe reactions of all food allergies...the number of children (this isn't counting us adults who have developed it) with potentially fatal peanut allergies had doubled between 1997 and 2002. It is estimated that 3 million americans have a nut allergy. I know i have read many many times how people with nut allergies has increase over the years...this all being said... i now come to my gripe...why is that more now than ever before...everything has nuts in it... i use to be able to find many things that were banana flavored..whether bread, cake or whatever...now...everything is banana and nut... in fact, it's very rare that you will find just plain banana...except of course...a banana itself.... and no, it's not cause i'm looking more at the labels...in fact...i looked more in the beginning of this 6 years ago, than i do now...there are many cereals that i can't even try...cause they now contain nuts...and if i was to really be careful, as i should, i wouldn't be able to eat even more because of the stuff that is made on the same equipment as nuts....now granted...now, more than ever, they are more prone to put that on the label, due to the severe uprise in nut allergies.... but i swear...within the last 6 years, i have seen more nuts added than taken out... why is what i want to know...i know they are not picking on me...nor those with allergies...but i am concerned that as americans, we see a problem, and give more to it than try to stop it...

so...that is my gripe for this fine thursday :) i'm really in a good mood otherwise, but dd2 and i were talking about this saturday and it's something i had wanted to vent about :)

Oh my. I'm sorry to hear of your nutty predicament. I love nuts and cannot imagine having to go through life without them. I hope that you have a future of yummy non-nutty food experiences that will keep you healthy, happy and safe!

PS: Vent all you like! We're here to listen!!

Boy, I really feel for you, Kitty! And you're right, food allergies seem to be on the rise. I am fortunate, I'm not allergic, but my little nephew is...to nuts, shell fish, chocolate. As far as I know, my sister has only had to use that little epipen twice to inject the medicine when he ate something with nuts in it. And you're also right about banana bread. Unless I bake it myself, the store bakeries almost always put nuts in it.
