If at first you don't succeed, remember you're not alone. Most don't succeed the first time, but it by hanging in there, acknowledge the mistakes along the way but don't own them, learn from them and let them go. It is the lessons we learn along the way that fortifies your armor and yes, it is the bad lessons as well as the good. Pushing past the bad to get to the good, taking the good as examples that it can be done...persistance and positive thinking, it will get you where you want to go!

Today was much better than the last few. It's a really good feeling to manage my life instead of feeling like I'm being blown around.

I don't know how many members take the time to read the Healthy Reflections email, but today's was so timely it wasn't funny. I hope it's okay to include it in my blog this way, so hear goes...

"Are you paying attention to how your time is spent?

Days don't get shorter. Our attention spans do. How can summer be over in a blink while it seems like the weekend will never get here? Because we're not paying attention. Five days out of seven, we're waiting for something else to happen in the future, and we don't take advantage of the day that we hold in our pocket. Have you ever had someone ask what you did last week--or even yesterday--and had trouble coming up with an answer? You probably wouldn't have had any problem at all if your time were spent on something meaningful for you. Don't wait for tomorrow! Ignore the calendar and work with one day at a time. Fill that one day with stuff you'll pay attention to, the stuff that memories are made of. A little bit of focus will help you get rid of that hectic blur."

I have been spending a lot of time decluttering my environment/life as I continue stepping through the SP program. As I have been sifting through, each item falls into 1 of 3 categories: 1) Definite keepers; 2) Definite must-go; and 3) the all time elusive (and though I haven't actually caught them in the act, some reproducing) Not sure yet.

My last days have been trying to get throught the NOT SURE YET pile, it was getting bigger than I wanted. I thought I was taking on the easiest of that pile. I quickly went through the items surrounding exercises I want to try, but I'm not at the level that I can do them yet, so that was a no brainer. The remainder put me in what was so appropriately called a "hectic blur." I had been working on these items slowly because they aren't items you can do in a day...you have to wait for responses before you can take the next step. From the outside looking in, you would never have suspected that I actually know that taking on too much reduces overall productivity.

Thank goodness for the calmness I've been able to achieve so far to recognize my error of my way. It's one day at a time, one step at a time and today I threw up the stop sign emoticon. I missed the peaceful time that comes from making good use of my time...so here goes, back on track! emoticon emoticon emoticon

There always seems to be so many things that need to get done. It's no wonder that nothing gets done, it can be overwhelming. Just remember there's only 24 hours in a day, and you have to sleep, so there's only 16-18 hours to play with. Think of those 16-18 hours sitting on a plate and apply the healthy lifestyle rule of moderation. The more you pile on the plate the more you have to stress over. Do what you can in the time you have, take the time you need to do a good job and believe or not, it will build up your consistency to get tasks done and motivate you to keep working hard to make a difference as items are disappear off the plate.

Today turned out to be a more trying day that I thought when I woke up. It felt like so many other days before, I had my outfits picked out (workout and professional attire), my routine had been selected, MP4 charged with tunes. My break fast, breakfast and lunch had been planned and packed, the forecast was looking good (there's a reason I've invested in a treadmill, stepper, trampoline, stability ball, weights, jump rope, chin up bar, trainers to make my outdoor bike stationary emoticon-get the hint, I don't brave the elements; perhaps one day that will come). And as life would have it an emegency came up and everything changed.

You just have to love Lifecan Interruptus (my personal term for the things that keep life sometimes more than just a little interesting, and always unplanned). It took a bit of juggling, but the most important things were done, and the rest fell by the wayside and I'm here to fight another day...Make it (the priorities in your life) happen, the extra fluff stuff (the would be nice, but not necessary) will be there tomorrow.

    Absolutely right! You have to prioritize. I've been doing a lot of that lately and it is working. I'm getting the things done that I want to do.
