Friday, April 30, 2010

So much to do and the weekend is always a good time when more of my time can be focused on playing the pieces of the jigsaw puzzle called my life. I'm excited! so much has been learned, and so much more to be discovered. I'm up for making some new discoveries this weekend and it feels good! emoticon

Off to a good start!

Thursday, April 29, 2010

A lot has changed in my life since I started my journey to a healthier lifestyle: when I eat, what I eat, how much I eat, when I exercise, the variety of exercises, how much I exercise, the way I think about food, about my body, my environment.

Last night I was thinking I should be further along, if it wasn't for some illnesses and injuries. I caught myself, however, to realize that maybe these were good things after all. I started off very slowly, as I mentioned in an earlier blog I didn't even start with babysteps, I started out crawling. I spent time learning about the site, reading the articles and trying out exercises. I say trying out because while 2 sets of 2 reps compared to the 2 sets of 12-15 reps recommended hardly ranked, but I was pleased because it was better than not doing anything and I was exploring for those exercises that I felt I would go back to again and again. Basically looking for exercises that my mind, body and spirit seem to come together on without any excuses.

When I became ill/injured, still determined to stick with my plans to redesign my lifestyle, it was then that I realized how much I had learned using the SP tools, participating on threads, reading articles, and practicing what I was being taught. I've been able to maintain my new weight, to mix and match my workouts to fit my schedule., and the consistency I had built up was sticking with me.

Don't underestimate the positive changes you see along the way, try to find out how to replicate it. Beginning can be rough, slip ups will happen, but stay with the process. I've lost 20lbs and I am maintaining, and yes I am working to lose more, but little did I know in the beginning trying a bit of this and a dab of that that I was actually off to a good start. So hang in there! emoticon

Be a good student of life - take notes!

Wednesday, April 28, 2010

The mind is an incredible instrument, but sometimes it pays to write it down. I have found my journals to be invaluable as I make the journey to a healthier lifestyle. As I experiment with things to see what works and doesn't, how I'm feeling before and after I try new activities/foods, I journal it. It has definitely helped me stay on track. Be a good student of life, of your life - take notes! emoticon

I like to look back and see what can be used again, this helps when you become bored doing the same ole thang.

Let your imagination be your guide!

Tuesday, April 27, 2010

I don't know why I did it today. Maybe it's because after maintaining my current weight, albeit not my goal, and feeling like I've rebounded well from any injuries, sprains and illnesses it was time to remind myself what I am shooting for. I found a virtual weight loss simulator and played around with the numbers, slowly stepping down from where I am to where I aim to be and Voila. I was pleased to still feel good about the weight I am shooting for and it was good to see a real picture, with all the inbetween stages, showing me what I'm working hard to achieve and letting my imagination be my guide. emoticon

Keep external forces external!

Monday, April 26, 2010

Strange way to get reinforcement for what we already know, but according to Vampire mythology a vampire cannot enter your home unless invited. Not a bad rule to apply to one's life across the board -- you choose what get's into your head to make a nest. Keep those negative external forces external, you'll be the stronger and better for it!

Good analogy...and another way to look at this thing.

Trying to keep the external forces out!
