The more you give, the more you get!

For those who don't know my history, here's the long and short of it...Since my youth I'd always been in sports or some type of activity but along the way Lifecan Interruptus stepped in and the pounds stepped out to meet me. When I started SP I heard a lot about babystepping, for me I started even further back, I decided to crawl. I selected an exercise for each body part and if I did 2 reps of 2, it was more than where I started and I was happy and that is where I started building my consistency. From there, I continued to build my fitness schedule.

As for the nutrition side, I started slowly again, I wasn't much of a soda drinker, but I reduced it more and replaced that with water. I did not make any changes to what I was eating, I would simply track what I was eating to see how much I was consuming . I had read a few SP articles that discussed the importance of not removing everything that you really enjoy eating but instead learn to cook it in a healthier way. I started to change my recipes to take me where I wanted to go. For example, there was a time I would never consider plain yogurt, now I don't know what I was thinking. I use it make my potato salads, my own tartar sauce, eating it alone with a little honey or the fruit of my choice. (NOTE: My daughter was a big help here. She fell in love with plain yogurt before I did as I was always hesitant because I couldn't find a small plain yogurt, just in case I didn't like it. The excuse of not buying plain yogurt was removed-it would not be a waste of money any longer.)

With each tiny change, with each positive give, I have gained more and more each time...in physical strength, endurance and more...so give it up...the more you give, the more you get!

Start and end each day on a positive note. Doesn't have to be anything long or profound. A simple "Hello beautiful" usually brings a smile to my face in the morning and "Goodnite gorgeous" at night...Remember, beauty is in the eye of beholder and you are beautiful! Even if you don't feel comfortable saying it to others, know you are beautiful and it's okay to let yourself know it! emoticon

I began freshening up my daughter's room today, it won't be long before she is back from college. When she was a young girl, I bought her a skelton model to put together. I couldn't believe when I realized I was actually humming the DEM BONES song. In case you aren't sure if you know the song, I attached a link to one version of the song.

This is the way it is suppose to work with our bodies and our lives--everything working together, in harmony. Somewhere, somehow a disconnect happened which we are trying to put back together. Keep in mind, even with the song, it's one piece at a time. Be patient with yourself and keep in mind the total picture and goal, you're rebuilding a lifestyle, you're learning how to keep yourself on track for the tomorrows to come...take the time to connect the dots in a way that works for you! emoticon

Follow the rainbow and you'll get there...experience all the fruits and vegetables out there and you'll have gone a long way to supplying your body with the nutrients it needs to reach your goals...so try them all, find something new you've never eaten before and find your pot of gold. emoticon
