Boy, I needed that little "shot in the arm" - I have just been thinking of what more I could do on my 23-week personal challenge. Push up my exercising. Whew. Wish me luck on this one. I have to balance how much I push and how my joints are feeling on a daily basis. But I am excited about the thoughts to increase my activities. emoticon

Testing my metal!

Monday, February 22, 2010

Every now and then, every now and then I have to test my metal...push it just a little further than the schedule calls for...I don't stay at this point, it's more like studying for a quiz, or intervals in running...just to test my metal and decide if I'm ready to make another adjustment...no harm no foul if I don't finish an entire set because it's extra, but good for the soul! emoticon

A healthier you is closer than you think!

Sunday, February 21, 2010

When a person stops smoking, the body begins to heal itself. According to a number of resources:

Within 20 mins: Blood pressure and heart rate drop to a level close to that before your last cigarette. Blood flow increases to the extremities.

After 8 hrs: Carbon Monoxide levels in your blood stream drop to normal level.

After 24 hrs: Chance of heart attack begins to decrease

2 weeks 3 months: Blood circulation improves and lung function increases up to 30%

and it just keeps getting better...now couple that with eating better, strengthening your body with exercise, sleeping better and decluttering your life...definitely a healthier you is closer than you think.

Good News for smokers who are trying to decide, if it will be worth it, even if they smoked for many many years.

There no such thing as an effort too small!

Saturday, February 20, 2010

I joined SP almost 2 years ago, and what did I notice today...I completed my workout, but not to the level I wanted...to think in less than 2 years I have gone from not really pulling together my thoughts and action about my health to actually recognizing it as an important part of my day that I miss when I don't do a complete routine and turn my nose up to foods that I know does nothing for my overall well being...There's no such thing as an effort too small, it does add up and you're to better for it...yes it takes time, but you are so worth it...so keep taking those small steps and being gentle with yourself as you go through the process. emoticon

You are absolutely right. All the changes are so small but there are SO many. I think we don't notice them enough or give ourselves enough credit.

Yes! I love this. I needed the reminder that it takes TIME! It's so easy to start feeling like "I want my goals NOW!" We forget it takes time, and we haven't been doing *this* nearly as long as we had been doing the other bad habits. Little things will add up into something HUGE! Loved the post today.
