I cannot believe the obsession with bacon in this country since the Atkins diet came out years ago. When I go to a restaurant for lunch or dinner, I expect to find one or two items that do not break the calorie-counting bank, but I am finding it harder all the time. A restaurant down the street has a grilled chicken sandwich on the menu that also has bacon and cheese. Yes, I can order it without these items, but it makes me angry that they ruin a fairly healthy meal with the added fat and calories. Another place puts bacon on all their salads. This is really irritating because most of the salads are pre-made. Now I read an entry about KFC making a sandwich that is actually bacon and cheese between two pieces of fried chicken. How can these places continue to create menu items that are so unhealthy? Isn't it bad enough that the portions have become so out of control that a meal can be turned into three meals? Is this bacon fascination as irritating to anyone else as it is to me?
