I'm baaaack!

Recently I realized that I've been letting my good habits slide and eating too much junk food. I've gained some weight back and I'm not happy with how I look. I don't think it's too much, but it wasn't supposed to come back. So I've decided to return to SparkPeople to have a place where I can keep track of my eating and exercise. Probably tomorrow I'll actually step on the scale and have a starting point.

Right now I'm simply going to go back to eating healthier and exercising daily. We've got our own place now and a friend has given us a few DDR games and the pad. That's going to be my main form of exercise. I'm also going to use my general blog over at WordPress in addition to this to keep myself in check. Here's to good habits and keeping them!

Goodbye, SparkPeople!

I was rewriting my information and had a really nice piece written when it decided my goal weight had to be lower than my current and didn't save a word I wrote! So I guess I'll just post something here.

Since September I have been in Stage 4 and not been using SparkPeople anymore. I had lost 15 lbs and really liked how I looked. I decided to move my goal weight up and not worry about the nutrition tracker anymore. Now I simply listen to myself to know when to stop eating and simply try to walk as much as I can in my day. I have lost another 7 pounds since then. The other day I went to look at jeans, since my current ones are litterally falling off of me, and discovered that I was down not one but two sizes! So I bought two pairs of jeans, one pair being skinny! I'm going to put up an after picture soon, probably in the jeans.

SparkPeople has been a wonderful tool for my weightloss. Without it I know I would not look or feel this good! I want to thank everyone in this great community for being there. I am probably not going to be coming back, and wanted to thank everyone before leaving. Thank you!!

    This communitee has become like family to me. Even when I loose my weight, I will continue to still be here cause I keep learning more things about all kinds of subjects. I love that about this site. There is just too much info here to want to leave it. Besides, I really like the people, and I would really miss them.

    Good luck if you are venturing off SP. Congrats on your weight loss, it feels fantastic, doesn't it? Well, events in your life will happen and you will be distracted and focused on other things and before you know it, you can be 40 lbs overweight again. I speak from experience having lost weight 4 times in the last 25 years that unless you stay with it continually, it will eventually creep back on (and it will likely happen within 2 years, just like the stats say), this I know. This is the last time I plan to do this, but I said that last time too. I have less to lose each time now than the last time, because I have figured out some of what works and stick with it. I now need to keep those last 20 lbs off for good and using the Nutrition Tracker, whether on SP or not, is going to be the best way. If a few lbs creep up (only weighing every few days or once a week), then stepping up the cardio and cutting a few calories. I wish you the best of luck and enjoy your NEW you!

    Sorry you're not coming back. I lost my weight just a little over a year ago, and I really do attribute my continued low weight to visiting this site on an almost daily basis.

So I got up this morning and remembered to pull the scale out. I have lost 4 pounds! I haven't used the Bowflex or exercised in a month. But I have been eating well and it's obviously been working. I'm simply going to keep eating well, and I'm going to start using the Bowflex. This has finally motivated me to get exercising again. Yay!! And here I was afraid that I had gained weight. I so need to get some money set aside to go get new jeans. Most of them are falling off my body. This is great motivation!!!

Too much to do

Yesterday started out well. Work was going well, I got a lot of things done. Had a nice egg salad sandwich for lunch. Then FH called to tell me he wasn't going out and maybe we could do something for dinner. :S He has to have meat in every meal, it's a bit annoying. So I call back and tell him what my plan was for dinner (a premade pizza crust drizzled with olive oil, layered with spinach, tomatoes, olives, and mushrooms, and topped with fresh mozzarella) and said I could pick up another crust for him and make a pepperoni one. He wants to take a break from pizza. Argh. We finally agree to get Chipotle.
So I finally go over to Jo-Ann's and get the buttons we ordered. Then stopped by Hobby Lobby and got my tux shirt for Halloween. Yes, Hobby Lobby has tux shirts complete with pre-tied bow ties. They're back with the bandanas and flip-flops. I finally get home and quickly change and we go to Chipotle where I get a fabulous Vegetarian Burrito Bol. It's tempting to try something like that for lunch next week. If I can just figure out something to reheat the rice in that's not plastic, I'm set! I got nothing else done because we ate dinner, then I made up the no-bakes for today (I have snack day), and by then I only had enough time to check e-mail quick before getting ready for and going to bed. I haven't worked on his jacket since Tuesday! I was hoping to have it all cut out by tomorrow. I'll just work on it some tonight and finish tomorrow.

Busy, yet productive, day

Yesterday was busy. Lots to do at work. But that happens every Wednesday. I have the meat invoices to do on top of my normal stuff. And depending on how Monday and Tuesday go, my Wednesday can be packed (like yesterday) or go smoothly.
After work I raced over to get to the oil change on time. They also rotated my tires, checked my battery, and refilled my washer fluid. Oh, and I can't forget the free car wash! I love my dealership. And the oil change only costs a couple bucks more than at Wal-Mart. :) It also gave me time to get more of "In Defense of Food" read. That is a really good book. I'm waiting until I finish it to go into detail over at The Green Geek ( thegreengeek05.wordpress.com ). I did give a general idea of what it's about here ( thegreengeek05.wordpress.com/

). It's down near the bottom of the post. I may buy it if I get the chance. Everyone should read this book!
Of course it helps that I was already heading down this route thanks mainly to articles I've read here on SparkPeople. The articles and blog posts have helped me: figure out what produce should really be organic; realize that HFCF isn't the horror it has been made out to be (but I still want to avoid it. It's not naturally occuring!); change my mind and start buying regular yogurt instead of light; know that I can still lose weight and eat full fat foods, just not a lot of them. I think "In Defense of Food" is a great companion to SparkPeople. It compliments it so well!

    I'll have to check that book out. Sounds interesting and informative. I read a book called PLENTY, that was about growing your own food and eating locally grown food as much as possible. The couple who wrote the book discovered how hard it is to do just that. It was thought provoking.
