Ok! I have worked out a few times this week and just got back from a run. I am not sure how the weather is where you are but here it is BEAUTIFUL!!! That run was exactly what I needed!!

I have played contact sports my entire life and was never fond of it...I just happened to be good at it. I don't like playing soccer anymore but it paid for my college so that was good. Now, I need a new hobby. Volleyball was fun but I want to keep experimenting with new things.

ANY SUGGESTIONS?! I am thinking Ballet classes...I have no rhythm but why not try?

The "No Name Blog Entry"

Oh boy, I am back with my tail between my legs. I have tried harder and harder every time to stick with SOMETHING when it comes to staying healthy and I always give up or get "too busy" which is nonsense. I need motivation but it needs to start with me. I get so busy but I should never get too busy to work out and be healthy...it needs to be a priority.

With that said, I am finishing up grad school (hooray!) which kicked my butt for 2 years...now I am at my heaviest...terrible complexion....high amounts of stress because of it...its such a vicious cycle.

I am so glad the Spark People community did not give up on me...I am so fortunate. Time to really get back to it and get focused.

Half Marathon

I am so nervous but I am signing up for my first half marathon. That might seem easy to some people but I thought I would never go above a 10K but I am. I let someone talk me into the Disney half in January so I have plenty of time and lets face it...Disney rocks...so I should be fine. I started my training today. My plans are to run 3 times a week for about 3-5 miles. Then, over the weekend, I want to build my long distant running. So I plan on taking one day over the weekend, probably Sunday because that is my free day, and run between 5-10 miles. By the time December hits, I hope to be running between 10-13 miles on Sundays.

To those who have done half and full marathons, is this the best way to go? Any advice?

    Congratulations on your decision on running a half!! Disney would be so cool to do!! A friend of mine is running her first half and is following a training plan that builds up her mileage and then tapers off towards the last week or so. There's all kinds of programs you can get online: Hal Higgins, Jeff Galloway & runners world!

Back on TRACK!

Ok, so I let the past 2 weeks go without a workout and my eating has been...well not terrible but not great. Time to fix that. I work an overnight tonight so I am going to make it a point to do at least an hour of Wii Fit.

It is good sense to not eat after 7 but with my schedule that is really hard and practically impossible. What I have decided to do is if I eat past 7 it is going to be whole fruits and veggies ONLY. I have been eating sandwich's or chicken pattie's or stuff along those lines. Its too heavy because even though I am at work I am usually sitting at my computer doing homework so its not like I am being active.

I have until August 4th to lose the rest of my weight. Gar. 20 pounds to go but I think eating sensibly will get me pretty close.

final week of the semester

Wow, I really pack on the pounds during finals week. I am sure it is part stress, part sitting on my butt writing papers while snacking, and part not having any time to sleep or workout. I should take up Yoga during times like this.

I made chicken salad and mixed some Old Bay Seasoning in it...oh yum. Maybe people know of this already but I just tried it out and thoroughly enjoyed it. Chicken salad is a dish I experiment with but I think my favorite is still with grapes cut in half. Yum yum yum. Or with catalina dressing and crunchy noodles.

PS. I am not a good cook. If these look weird its because I just get random cravings and start throwing stuff together. I have learned to love my cooking haha. I need to make healthier choices while I am stressed out. Pizza and wings have really been good to me though. So good...yet so bad.
