Meghan's surgery tomorrow

Sunday, January 27, 2013

Well, tomorrow is finally Meghan's long awaited sinus surgery. After months of being told it was allergies, a trip to the ENT told a different story. Her sinus CT scan showed multiple problems, requiring surgery to correct. We have to be at Mary Washington Hospital in Fredericksburg at 650 am tomorrow for a 745 surgery start. The surgery will be about 1/5-2 hrs and will hopefully correct all the problems. She has a completely occluded right maxillary sinus, a soft tissue mass that he said is unlikely but could be a malignancy, a cyst, a severe deviated septum and a fistula between her sinuses and mouth that is causing sinus drainage to leak into the spot where her wisdom tooth was removed which results in a horrible bad taste in her mouth that prevents her from having an appetite.

In the middle of all of this, her Dad lost his job after many years when Hostess closed it's doors in mid November. We were told our health insurance was terminated the last day of his employment so we were worried about not being able to get her surgery scheduled. It was just 3 weeks ago that we found out that Hostess paid the premiums until the end of February and our insurance was good until then. That explained why our mail order pharmacy kept sending our prescription refills! Once I found that out, I immediately call the doctors office and scheduled her surgery. She is eligible for insurance with her employer in March, so thankfully she will go with no break in coverage.

The forecast is calling for freezing rain tonight into the morning hours, hopefully that won't prevent us from getting there safely.

I will post an update once the surgery is completed and she is out of recovery. She will be out of work and school for 2 weeks.

At this moment, based on your time, Meaghan's surgery should be just about over. Prayers for quick healing and for the ability to breathe like normal people!

So glad you were able to stay in F'burg last night and avoid the ice, since it was indeed icy here this morning.

Today's sono pics

Tuesday, December 04, 2012

Emily had her official sono today which confirmed that the unofficial one in my office was correct. AJ is indeed a boy :-)

And here's a little foot:

And a nice profile pic with his mouth open:

He's growing quite well and as thin as she is, she's been feeling kicks for a couple weeks already. She's been taking monthly pics. Hard to tell much of a difference yet.

12 weeks

16 weeks

20 weeks

Her husband was deployed last week so she is alone for the next 3 months. She had ordered the crib and bedding and it came today. My Mom (Nanfacemire1) and step Dad went down yesterday to be with her this week and to go to the sono today. She's enjoying spending some time with her and they can help her get the crib together.

It's a boy :-)

Monday, November 19, 2012

Today Emily and Joey came in for us to look at their baby and see if we could tell it's sex. She is 18 weeks today. It was so nice to see her on her short trip here from NC :-)

It was really hard to tell for sure since the baby's cord was right there between his legs too, but we caught a glimpse of his scrotum too so that pretty much clenched it :-) She has her "real" ultrasound in 2 weeks, so that should confirm it.

I can't wait til he's here in April!

100 mile challenge

Sunday, September 30, 2012

This month myself and a few friends are challenging ourselves to walk or run, or a combo of each for 100 miles. We actually started earlier in the week, so we have 5 weeks to get the miles in. It averages out to about 3 miles per day to make our goal. Some days I have less, but other days I have more. Yesterday a friend and I hiked for 7.6 miles and today we are going on another long walk.

I'll be doing lots of emoticon and emoticon . Anyone else care to join in? Not all of us picked 100 miles (some more and some less), so you can pick whatever distance you feel will challenge you.

Thanks for starting the challenge for us, Carla! I'll have a couple of longer walks coming up, but 3 miles a day is good for me, and doable many days, even with the schedule crammed full. Some days I cover the distance in two segments due to time constraints, but it all adds up.

Carla, I think that's great that you're doing the 100 mile challenge. I am working on getting in more steps in October than in September and just pushing myself to walk as much as I can. Good luck on your challenge! I know you can do it!!!

Hugs,

Lainie
