Well, tomorrow is finally Meghan's long awaited sinus surgery. After months of being told it was allergies, a trip to the ENT told a different story. Her sinus CT scan showed multiple problems, requiring surgery to correct. We have to be at Mary Washington Hospital in Fredericksburg at 650 am tomorrow for a 745 surgery start. The surgery will be about 1/5-2 hrs and will hopefully correct all the problems. She has a completely occluded right maxillary sinus, a soft tissue mass that he said is unlikely but could be a malignancy, a cyst, a severe deviated septum and a fistula between her sinuses and mouth that is causing sinus drainage to leak into the spot where her wisdom tooth was removed which results in a horrible bad taste in her mouth that prevents her from having an appetite.
In the middle of all of this, her Dad lost his job after many years when Hostess closed it's doors in mid November. We were told our health insurance was terminated the last day of his employment so we were worried about not being able to get her surgery scheduled. It was just 3 weeks ago that we found out that Hostess paid the premiums until the end of February and our insurance was good until then. That explained why our mail order pharmacy kept sending our prescription refills! Once I found that out, I immediately call the doctors office and scheduled her surgery. She is eligible for insurance with her employer in March, so thankfully she will go with no break in coverage.
The forecast is calling for freezing rain tonight into the morning hours, hopefully that won't prevent us from getting there safely.
I will post an update once the surgery is completed and she is out of recovery. She will be out of work and school for 2 weeks.
