Our puppy passed away at 10:46 this morning. I feel good knowing we did all we could possibly do to help him.
I can not say enough good things about the emergency clinic. They were professional, polite, courteous, caring and supportive. They called frequently with updates and they called immediately when his heart stopped. A tech there was holding him and carrying him around with her and he simply went limp, had a low heart rate and then passed away. They said he died very peacefully (he had been sedated with pain meds and valium) and told me to take my time deciding if I wanted to bring him home and bury him or if I wanted them to take care of the arrangements.
I chose to bring him home and they said they would provide a little casket. I got there to pick him up and the whole staff was upset. The tech that brought him out to me was crying so hard she couldn't talk. They had his little box wrapped in rainbow paper, had the beautiful Rainbow Bridge poem attached to his box on the top and had made a tombstone and pasted it to the one of the ends of the box. It has his name, date of death and a little stamp of a puppy on it and they made him a beautiful plaque with all 4 of his actual paw prints and his name (wrong name, but not their fault and a long story!).
I was so impressed with everyone there and after the treatment with our regular vet last night, this clinic will become our new vet. They do regular vet care during the day and are open 24/7 for emergencies.
Here's his beautiful little box and plaque.
RIP Baby Roxy. You will be missed.
Thank you to all of you for your prayers, comments and support. It means more to me than you can ever know.
