It is SO cold this week that I'm finding it challenging to get my normal work outs in. I am working hours that don't work well with my gym hours and I am used to going walking/running at night. I got some colder weather running gear and a cute pink head lamp to be able to see at night so I don't trip. I got all bundled up last night and went out, but only made it 30 minutes. At first I thought it wasn't so bad, but then going around the corners the wind started up and it was COLD! I'm actually surprised I didn't give up before the 30 minutes.

Definitely time to dig out the workout DVDs! Do you own a treadmill? I use mine year-round. Yep, I'm spoiled to the indoor, climate-controlled workout environment.

I just mentioned on someone else's blog that I read or was told by someone with some credibility that you're supposed to run for time in the winter, and not for distance. So instead of trying to tough out 4 miles, tough out 30 minutes (if that's how long it would normally take you to run 4 miles) b/c the endurance is more important than the distance.

I know what you mean..I'm getting my run/walks in doors....I hate being cold and just can't get moving so I'm proud of you for giving it a great try.. and 30 minutes is fantastic when it's cold and windy have a healthy Wednesday Kitt Report Inappropriate Comment |

You're amazing for going out even for 30 minutes. I definitely know what cold weather is like. Right now we're in the negative teens!

Jeff Galloway had a great blog today about braving the cold weather. One of his tips is to run into the wind first so you have it at your back on the way home. It's hard either way.

Aside from the fact that I absolutely love cold weather running, -25c is my limit. I found a YMCA with a running track to continue enjoying my runs. I love that in cold weather you are burning extra calories by keeping warm and with the actual activity.

In 2009, I changed my Spark name to RUNA5K2010 because that was one of my biggest goals for this year. I have run several this year and as I was reminded by a dear friend, it's time for a new spark name.
I want something that shows who I am or what I like and one that is not necessarily a goal this time as I'd like a name I can keep and not change each time I reach a goal.
Same dear friend gave me lots of ideas to do with shoes and shopping after a day spent on a running shoe spree. Thanks, LOL. They were *really* cute but that's not the normal me (buying shoes like that).
Any ideas???? I like running, I am a big breast cancer prevention supporter, I'm working towards my goal weight and working towards running longer races.

wish I could help - I thought that perhaps it was time for me to get a new screen name - even tho my SparkName comes from my middle name and the year I was born (that kinda hangs my age right out there, doesn't it???) The very, VERY non-creative me thinks.... something with either your first name and some numbers (date of birth or year of birth or combination thereof) or something like "RunningCarla"??
