Happy Thanksgiving to all my Spark friends!

Wednesday, November 24, 2010

I just wanted to say a great big emoticon to all of my Spark friends. You guys are the best. I've appreciated the support and encouragement throughout the year.

I hope everyone enjoys their Thanksgiving holiday.

I'll be out in the rain (? freezing rain/sleet) with family and my Spark friends, Louisa and Tammie running a Turkey Trot, thinking about our other friends running the 5 miler in Alexandria (Jillian, Lisa and Katina) and the run in Centreville (Amy). I'm sure we will all do fine...like the postal service: rain, snow or sleet will not stop us!

Happy Thanksgiving! emoticon

I would love to see you come in first. But just to be able to do that at all would be a tremendous thrill for me.

I will be thinking of you while you are participating in the Turkey Trot. Please be very careful getting there in the bad weather. If it is too bad, please stay home. Good luck with the run and HAPPY THANKSGIVING to you. I really miss that we aren't together this year. I love you. Mom emoticon emoticon

A fun day and getting ready for my Turkey Trot

Saturday, November 20, 2010

I had a really nice day today. I got lots of activity in, including playing basketball which I haven't done in years.

I even made a shot or two, lol

We walked Skyla to the park and she played with her ball

and she tried to play with ours

My new bodybugg came, just in time for a day full of activity

While I loved the data from my first one I didn't like how huge and bulky it was. This one is so much smaller and can use different color frames and you can even buy skins to decorate the face of it.

Brandon, Lisa and some of my NOVA Sparker friends and I are doing a Turkey Trot on Thanksgiving morning. My dog Toby ate my nicest and favorite running shoes so I went out today to get some new ones. I found these:

Perfect for me since I love pink and purple!
It's supposed to rain from Tuesday through Thursday. I've never done a race in the rain so I got me a Under Armour hoodie. Hopefully it will keep me warm and dry.

I ended up buying two more pairs of running shoes too. The ones Toby ate were my favorite. They were Adidas Climacools and they were so comfortable. I found another pair (in a mint green and white color) at the JC Penney outlet. They were half price and then I had a $10 off coupon. I got the 2nd pair there also, some Asic gels. I have an old pair and like them too. The new ones are purple and lime green. I love bright colors! I also ordered a hot pink GYMBOSS yesterday that shipped today so I will be ready for my run on turkey day.

NFL Fit For You 5K, National Harbor, Maryland, Love them Skins!

Saturday, November 13, 2010

I love going to races, 5 and 10 K's (one day longer ones)...but today was one to remember. It was the most fun I have had at any I have done. Maybe because I grew up here and The Washington Redskins are MY team :-) They were everywhere! Players, players families, fans. Everywhere you looked was burgundy and gold. There were a few Eagles, Cowboy and Steeler fans there dressed in their gear, but the burgundy and gold WAY compensated for the few of them.

Here I am fueling up before we go:

The had an opening ceremony with Sportacus from the kids TV show, Lazy Town. Meghan was beside herself, LOL. She loved him as a kid. She got tons of pics of him doing his handstands and jumping around as he geared the crowd up to get ready to go and then some of the two of them and she got his autograph on her race bib. I think she was 5 or 6 when she liked him and she's 15 now.

We got to hear The National Anthem and Hail to the Redskins by the Redskins Marching Band

We got our picture at a giant Redskin helmet

and with "Chief Z" The oldest and longest term Redskin fan!

The view was beautiful and part of the run was running by the water at the Harbor

There were some decent hills, but overall it was a really nice run! Here we are at the finish:

My Garmin clocked me at 44 minutes which is 3 minutes less than last time. Their clock said 48 minutes (it was not a timed race). I have a long way to go to get faster, but I WILL get there!

I will add my number to my growing collection of race bibs!

It was an awesome day with some awesome friends! Next up the Turkey Trot on Thanksgiving morning.
