The start of a new week

Monday, November 16, 2009

I always like when a new week starts. They give us the opportunity to do things just a little bit better. Last week I had a good OP week, but only lost .2 pounds. I'm not complaining, a loss is a loss :-) but looking back there are things I could have done better that I will have a chance to change this week!

My goals this week are to add one new exercise, increase my water consumption and to try at least 2 new recipes.

I am walking a 5K this coming Saturday for St Judes Children's Center. I'm excited it's in my area and that I have several friends going too. It's the 2nd walk I've done and I'm hoping to do many more...eventually as a runner.

Thanks to you all! A sad and happy day....

emoticon to all of you for all your well wishes and Spark Goodies for being Ruby-Lite of the week. What a nice honor. I love this group so much!

Today was a very emotional day. Started off great with a 3.2 pound weight loss at my WW meeting this morning. Then my kitty, Java who had a cold and was doing fairly well, all of a sudden went downhill and she died in my arms late this afternoon. She was just over one, still a baby :-( I'm very grateful that I was there with her, but so shocked and saddened that she would get so sick so quickly. My daughter and I buried her in the back yard with some of her toys and some roses from our rose bushes.

Then I signed onto SP and found all the goodies and well wishes and couldn't help but smile :-) Thank you all for making what still is a sad day for me more bearable. emoticon

Sorry to hear about your kitty. I lost my lhasa last year (he was 9 yrs old) and it was a tough time for me so I truly sympathize with you.

Carla I am so sorry about your kitty. What a shock that must have been with such a young little soul! Though I'm sure it was very hard I am glad you were there with her.

I have a very old (est. 19 years) Pomeranian that is my heart. I only hope that I can be with her and that she is not alone and scared when the time comes. I think about it every day and am always sure to give her a special goodbye in the morning and go to her as soon as I get home in the evening!

I'm so sorry about your kitty! We have four cats - two of them are under a year old. They become a part of the family, and it hurts when you lose them. Hopefully the happy memories you have of her will give you some comfort. emoticon

I have a kitty too and she gets on my last raw nerves sometimes but I know I would be lost without her. Thank God you were there with her but it's still so sad. Have you ever heard of the Rainbow Bridge?

New week

Sunday, November 08, 2009

Well, today is the start of a new week! I lost 3.2 pounds at my WW meeting today. I stopped at the Farmer's Market on my way home and bought apples and some whole wheat bread and a few fresh herbs. We have a very large garden and fruit trees ourselves, but except for the winter squash, everything is gone or canned/frozen. I suppose I could have dried my herbs for use over the winter, but I really like the smell and taste of fresh ones more.

I spent the afternoon planning my menu for the week, making some pumpkin muffins and cutting the meat off all the chicken breasts I had cooked to use in recipes for later this week. For me a big part of my success if planning ahead. I always know at least the day before what I'm going to eat the next day and track it the night before. It's easy to change if something comes up or changes, but I like knowing ahead of time that I'm OP still.

Tonight is bowling night! I need a little relaxation after moving my DS and DIL into their new home yesterday. Closing kept getting delayed but finally happened Friday and at just 21, they are homeowners! I'm so proud of them.

Planning ahead is vitally important to me too! I was gone all weekend and feel completely lost now!

Doing well staying on plan while I was off. I thought it would be harder being home, but it's been fine. Back to work tomorrow....

I'm happy to be involved in the new Thankful Bank-Full November challenge. I really enjoyed the Sparktoberfest and am looking forward to this one too. I think it's great to focus on gratitude and friendship and giving. We are all in this together and the support is so important. Thanks to each and every one of you who have helped me along and touched me in some way.

I have never been to a Sparktoberfest before. I am just curious what do you do when you attend one? Did someone create this event annually for Sparkpeople members?
