Tomorrow, me and 16 other Spark friends from the Northern Virginia Spark Team, are headed to Washington DC to do the Susan G Komen Global Race for the Cure.

I am so excited to be able to participate!

Our team fundraising goal was $2000 and we way surpassed that!

to everyone who worked so hard to make that possible!

We have to be in DC at 6:30 am and they are expecting hundreds of thousands of people from all over the world, so it's bedtime for me!

New month, new start

I love this time of year. Warmer weather, more outside activities, loads of fresh veggies and fruit. It's an easy time for me to almost effortlessly do well.

This was the time last year that I did the best with my weight loss and fitness. I stayed with it all year, but gained some back during the winter. I only have 2 pounds to go to get back to where I was at the start of winter and then look out!

Yesterday's spinning class really challenged and motivated me. I felt SO good finishing it and it was such a challenge for me that I'm raring to go again and get better at it. Hope (GOLUCYGO) and I are looking into other classes as well. We are going to rock it this summer!

These are my "before" pics. I will post again at the end of summer so I can see the difference. The pics are SO much better than the ones at the beginning of last summer, but I still have a lot to do!!

Well, I survived the class and am here to write about it, LOL.

It was A LOT harder than I thought it would be. Neither Hope nor I had ever done it before. I forgot my water bottle at home and for some reason never thought about bringing a towel! Both were really stupid...

I started out just fine, but when we started adding resistance and standing up...wow. That was hard, but it was harder sitting on that little seat for so long. We were both sweating so much it wasn't funny and afterwards our legs felt like rubber. I wasn't sure I could get to the car :-)

All in all I think we did just fine....at least we made it the entire 45 minute class and didn't quit! We didn't always do what everyone else did, but we kept going! I wanted to quit several times but I think Hope and I kept each other going!

One day we might even look like the others who so effortlessly did the entire thing and made it look easy.

Ready for the next one Hope?

Update on Ashley

I'm happy to say that Ashley is out of ICU and she is feeling remarkably better after her blood transfusions, antibiotics and the colony stimulating factors she was given to help her bone marrow make new white blood cells. She still has a long rough road ahead of her, but she made it through this crisis!


Thanks to each and everyone of you for all the prayers and good thoughts sent her way!

We all have either personal stories about breast cancer or know people with stories. There are too many. Our Northern Virginia Spark Team is going to make our small mark in 2 weeks at the Komen Race for the Cure and let breast cancer know we won't give up fighting for all of our family and friends and we will work for a cure so others one day won't have to go through this!

Latest update: Ashley is home from the hospital and other than feeling tired, she is doing quite well. Thanks to all of you for the prayers and good wishes!

My friends daughter-please send positive thoughts and prayers

As some of you know, my best friends daughter was diagnosed with stage IIIC breast cancer a couple of months ago which later was changed to stage IV when they found it in her lungs also. She is only 23 years old...well actually, she turned 24 a couple of days ago. What a bad way to spend your birthday :-(

Yesterday, she was running a high fever and was very fatigued. It was two weeks since her last chemo, just a few days before her next was due. They recently changed her chemo drugs because after her last scan, her tumor had grown rather than shrunk. Until it shrinks, she can't have her mastectomy. Her tumor was the size of a grape when found in January and is now bigger than a grapefruit and is invading her chest cavity and pushing against her heart.

She went into her doctor with the fever and they found her WBC down to 0.2. It should be approximately 4-10. Her hemoglobin was down to 7. She was admitted to ICU with an infection, given blood transfusions, antibiotics and is in isolation.

She is very, very sick and needs all the prayers from those that pray, and good thoughts she can get.
