Emily's B-day....and I ate really well!

Thursday, April 15, 2010

Today (well yesterday now since it's Thursday am now) was my oldest daughter, Emily's 20th B-day. She wanted to go to Chili's for dinner. This is Emily and her boyfriend Beau:

Emily was my Weight Watcher buddy from the time she was 13 years old. She went from 5'3 and 169 pounds to 5'7 and 115 pounds and has been a Life time free WW member since she was 15 (although technically she can't go now because she falls below the acceptable weight range and would have to gain to return). She stayed with the program and works really hard to eat well. A lot of people think she is too thin, but she is healthy, happy and eats a very well balanced diet. I think she looks great! If we go some where for cake and ice cream for a birthday celebration, she eats a yogurt and piece of fruit instead. Tonight I had printed the NI from the menu so I could choose to eat within my calorie/point range and when I pulled it out to show her, she had already checked and figured exactly what she was having. It took me half an hour to decide what I wanted that fit into what I could eat without going over. With being back on track and motivated, I wasn't going to go over. I ended up having broccoli cheese soup and the Caribbean shrimp small salad. That brought me smack in the middle of my range so I did good. I also had 5 glasses of water with lemon while there and I'd already had my water in for the day before we got there.

This is my other daughter, Meghan who is 14 and I. She is my current WW buddy and has lost about 10 pounds. She is at the top of the healthy weight range for her height but would like to be closer to the middle to bottom of it.

Together we both walk, go to the gym and try to help each other along. I'm very happy to have a great family of supporters with my girls.

That is great that your family is so involved. It is hard to get teenagers to do anything you think is good so good job.

Carla, your daughters are beautiful and I think that it it wonderful that you are setting such a great example for them and that they are your ww buddies. Are they both joining us for the Race for the Cure? I can't wait to meet them.

A walk through the park

Sunday, April 11, 2010

I got to meet a new Spark friend today, Hope. We met at a state park nearby and walk the nature trails:

We saw several deer, but I forgot to bring my camera so I had to use my phone to take these and couldn't remember how to zoom in so the deer is a little hard to see. The first one we saw didn't run at all, but just watched us walk by:

Some of the trails were so steep I was too out of breath to talk. Shows me I have lots of work to do still!

Then we walked down by the river and the views were really pretty:

We walked for about an hour and a half til just before it closed. I hope to do it again soon! Thanks for a nice walk Hope!

Back to work

Wednesday, April 07, 2010

Well it sure was a hot day today, I was sort of glad to be back to work and out of the heat! When I'm off I tend to want to be outside and it was just so hot today! It's 93 still at 6pm and my WeatherBug shows it hit 97 here today. Way too much for early April! I'm looking forward to the cold front coming in that will put us in the 70's for the next few days.

First day back went smoothly except for the fact that our office administrator informed me that they made an error (again!) in calculating the vacation hours issue and instead of being short 38 hours, it's 70 hours! So, now I should have paid it back and accrued enough to be off a week sometime around Thanksgiving! Good thing I don't have plans for the summer!

At some point your office should be taking the hit for such shoddy tracking.

Just my 2 cents...

Kind of chilly here today in the 40's and windy, sounds like I better be digging out my shorts for may!

These vacation hours errors are just plain CRAZY! Do you have any recourse as it is not your fault?
And I agree: much too hot for April. I refuse to start on my A/C so soon but I am tempted...

Walk, walk, walk..getting back on track

Tuesday, April 06, 2010

Today is my last day off from work and it's gorgeous outside! I'm waiting for my oldest daughter to get here and we are going to walk to Starbucks for my daily ice coffee. It's 3.2 miles each way, so I'll have over 6 miles in just from that. I walk with my youngest daughter every evening, so I'll be logging lots of miles today!

I already had a healthy breakfast, 1 egg, 2 eggs whites, 1 red bell pepper, 1 cup spinach and 1 cup zucchini all cooked up together. I had a whole wheat half of an english muffin with it and 1 cup of strawberries and raspberries. I've already got a great start to F&V servings in and have lots more veggies planned for the day.

I'm feeling more confident and like I'm back on track. The emoticon will start to once again the right direction! emoticon

Sounds like a great start to your day. I am going to have some eggsalad (made with mostly whites) on ww bread for my protein!

I hope to do some outside yard work/ clean the patio and furniture and get the grill fired up. Spent an hour at the gym this morning and hope to walk later or maybe ride my bike somewhere with my son for a small icecream cone!

Definitely feels good to be back in control and to have warmer sunny weather! we can do this!

Happy Easter!

Sunday, April 04, 2010

Wishing everyone a very Happy Easter (and Passover!).

I'm enjoying the time with my Mom, Step Dad and daughter.

We are planning a healthy dinner and just made a Weight Watcher's pie for dessert--really yummy

We took a 3 mile walk this morning, each way and plan to walk again after dinner. Hopefully that will take care of the little bit of extras I've had this weekend!
