Kyle Wilson died at age 24, in the line of duty, fighting a fire here in PWC on 4/16/07
Kyle's passion was health and fitness, so since then, his family, friends and co-workers organized and run an annual walk for fitness in his honor.
He went to our local high school and was a couple years ahead of my boys, and this is the 3rd year I've participated. I went with my friend Torrie:
and my daugther, Meghan:
At the beginning of the race they had fire trucks set up and they announced if anyone wanted to run they should come to the beginning of the track.
I got caught up in the excitement and we headed that way. They counted down and said go and at that time they sounded the sirens and off we went! I intended to run as long as I could, but the whole route was full of hills so that didn't last too long, LOL.
It's funny you don't notice those hills when you drive that route!
We finished in 1:48...went back to take the picture after crossing the finish line:
It was a great experience and for a great cause and I look forward to doing it next year!
May you RIP Kyle....

Today (well yesterday now since it's Thursday am now) was my oldest daughter, Emily's 20th B-day. She wanted to go to Chili's for dinner. This is Emily and her boyfriend Beau:
Emily was my Weight Watcher buddy from the time she was 13 years old. She went from 5'3 and 169 pounds to 5'7 and 115 pounds and has been a Life time free WW member since she was 15 (although technically she can't go now because she falls below the acceptable weight range and would have to gain to return). She stayed with the program and works really hard to eat well. A lot of people think she is too thin, but she is healthy, happy and eats a very well balanced diet. I think she looks great! If we go some where for cake and ice cream for a birthday celebration, she eats a yogurt and piece of fruit instead. Tonight I had printed the NI from the menu so I could choose to eat within my calorie/point range and when I pulled it out to show her, she had already checked and figured exactly what she was having. It took me half an hour to decide what I wanted that fit into what I could eat without going over. With being back on track and motivated, I wasn't going to go over. I ended up having broccoli cheese soup and the Caribbean shrimp small salad. That brought me smack in the middle of my range so I did good. I also had 5 glasses of water with lemon while there and I'd already had my water in for the day before we got there.
This is my other daughter, Meghan who is 14 and I. She is my current WW buddy and has lost about 10 pounds. She is at the top of the healthy weight range for her height but would like to be closer to the middle to bottom of it.
Together we both walk, go to the gym and try to help each other along. I'm very happy to have a great family of supporters with my girls.

Well it sure was a hot day today, I was sort of glad to be back to work and out of the heat! When I'm off I tend to want to be outside and it was just so hot today! It's 93 still at 6pm and my WeatherBug shows it hit 97 here today. Way too much for early April! I'm looking forward to the cold front coming in that will put us in the 70's for the next few days.
First day back went smoothly except for the fact that our office administrator informed me that they made an error (again!) in calculating the vacation hours issue and instead of being short 38 hours, it's 70 hours! So, now I should have paid it back and accrued enough to be off a week sometime around Thanksgiving! Good thing I don't have plans for the summer!

Today is my last day off from work and it's gorgeous outside! I'm waiting for my oldest daughter to get here and we are going to walk to Starbucks for my daily ice coffee. It's 3.2 miles each way, so I'll have over 6 miles in just from that. I walk with my youngest daughter every evening, so I'll be logging lots of miles today!
I already had a healthy breakfast, 1 egg, 2 eggs whites, 1 red bell pepper, 1 cup spinach and 1 cup zucchini all cooked up together. I had a whole wheat half of an english muffin with it and 1 cup of strawberries and raspberries. I've already got a great start to F&V servings in and have lots more veggies planned for the day.
I'm feeling more confident and like I'm back on track. The will start to once again move...in the right direction!
