If anything, I have discovered I am a TERRIBLE blogger! I just don't make time to do it, plain and simple. It's not that I don't have a desire to, but it just isn't a passion or comes naturally like it does with some.
I've been at a standstill for at least a year with my weight loss, sad to say. I know I have 10-20 pounds to lose, but just haven't felt the great need to do anything about it. I mean, I complain about being over weight, but don't try as hard as I need to to get to where I want to be.
I have gotten back into a daily exercise routine recently though. Walking, yard work, tennis. Now to get my food on the right track. It isn't that I eat junk food. I really don't. I just eat too much of even the good stuff. Portion control is my problem. I'm working on it though.

My body is so weird. Just when I think I am on the right track, I have a setback. At my 2nd Kmart weigh in I had lost 2 1/2 lbs. and was very happy. I continued on with what I thought was working for me--eating more veggies, staying away from sweets and excercising more. Well, for some odd reason I have gained it all back PLUS 1/2 lb.
Someone metioned to me that perhaps I was not eating enough calories and my body went into starvation mode with all the exercise I have been doing. It is so hard for me to wrap my brain around that. I mean, all my life I've been told and have read that you need to DECREASE calories to lose weight. Now, I'm reading more of the opposite. What is true?
Sometimes it is so hard to tell fact from fiction. It can be mind draining trying to figure it all out.
Anyway, I've decided to try increasing my calorie intake and see what happens.

Saturday January 12, 2008 a friend and I enrolled in the Kmart "New Day Your Way" weigh loss contest. When my friend asked if I wanted to do it, at first I thought "no way". I kept having flash backs to grade school when they weighed us and how humiliated I was weighing so much more than the other kids. Yes, my weight issues started in 1st grade and only got worse. I was constantly teased and taunted about my weight.
My friend helped me overcome that fear and I went with her and it ended up being a very pleasant experience. Afterall, every one else there was there for the same reason I was--to get motivation and accountability with losing weight. I'm glad I went.
Their scale weighed me 2 lbs. more than mine, but that wasn't too bad. I did buy the same scale they use so I will match their readings from now on. I gave my old scale to my friend......her scale was 10 lbs. off! So, not we both have a more accurate reading.
I'm slowly losing those dreaded pounds I gained last week or so. I'm paying close attention to what and how much I am eating and have bumped up my exercise. I feel really good!
The weather this past week was pretty decent and Ken and I were able to go walking 4 times!
I will be weighing in at Kmart on the 26th and am optimistic I will attain the 2 lb. loss they require.

I am so fed up with my wt. going up and down like a yo-yo! Last week I did so well by losing 2.5 lbs. even after eating pizza and spaghetti and meatballs. Then, I get on the scale this morning and gained is ALL back PLUS 2 more over the weekend! I just don't get it. I was more careful over the weekend.
I'm just SO frustrated and don't know what to do. I used to be carb sensitive, and had to restrict carbs to lose. I lost almost 30 lbs. doing that. Then, all of a sudden nearly 2 yrs. ago when I was about to turn 40 I gained over 10 lbs. and I had been eating well and exercising. So, after some experimenting, I was able to add more carbs in and I lost some of the wt. I've been struggling ever since with up and down no matter what I do.
I know part of the problem is I haven't been keeping track of my food on here like I used to. So, starting today that is what I am doing. I just pray I can keep up with it and don't get side tracked. That tends to happen with me.
I'm also bumping up my exercise to include strength training 2-3 times per week in addition to my cardio 5-6 times per week.
We have Total Gym, hand weights and exercise videos, so there is NO excuse!
