hot and rainy, sticky

Thursday, May 03, 2012

For people who do not get the concept of humidity, it does not matter if you fall in a hole in the dark, the air is hot, thick, sticky,, being surrounded by water, being near Canada and getting their winds, the moist air blows around and you literally cannot wipe your skin dry.

WHen I was on a Caribbean cruise years ago, the humidity was 98%. Stepping out of the shower, you tried to dry off, but your skin NEVER dried. THe only time it did was while I was lying on the beach in Grenada, St. Thomas, Martinique, Curacao, San Juan,,, just before I got too hot in the sun, the sweat dried off. Maybe about twenty minutes,, then back to sticky skin. That is what it is like here all summer when the Great Lakes blow their water over you,, I live about two miles from Lake Huron.. it never is dry..

This is the warmest winter/spring I can remember in forty years.. sometimes we had our furnace on 24/7 until June. We would open our windows overnight if not for the humidity. That reminds me, I have to go in the basement and turn the humidifier off on the a/c section of the furnace.
I am anxious to see how much return I will get on those rolls of insulation I installed last autumn in the attic and over the garage ceiling..

Here we are in May 2012 and I feel I should be shaking up my routine, but work and family matters make it impossible to do anything drastic. I get lots of cardio ant work, much more than these workouts, but love the kickboxing vid with Nicole. With no pool this summer, we are going to have e to rethink our summer workouts, maybe more treadmill where it is in the 60's all summer.
The humidity ranges between 70%- 98% all summer, and it is very hot at work, so I am wrung out like a used dishcloth after work; that pool was the one thing I looked forward to, to be outdoors all summer,,

I think that treadmill and the bands will have to be it. Time to look at more vids for guidance.

I love walking our trails in the summer as the trees and river running beside it keep it pretty cool until you get back out in the sun....otherwise it is the treadmill for me too. I know you will miss your pool. Is there one close to you where you can go?

Hi there are you doing the Spring Challenge. I am doing it my way. my tracker was generated by spark. I put the videos in to the days so I wiped out all of my fitness exercises. Lots of people sent me links they were so nice to me but they have no concept of computer illiteracy. I will put everything in to my goals tracker and my cardio. So long as I know I am doing it all it works for me.
I was loving the Wilderness walks till we found some ticks, we do have a lot of deer. I hope you do not have as many as we do. They will be lesser in the summer and then again in early fall for us in Maine. I always wear white support knee highs and if they get on my legs I can spot them easier. i have to wear them as mjuch as possible so i am very used to them. Black in winter white in summer. HUGS Pat, take care. emoticon emoticon emoticon

I miss the good old days when I had a job. The facility I worked at didn't have A/C or heat. We would melt in the summer and freeze in the winter. I remember one winter, there were icicles hanging from the ceiling. When we got the fryers going, the ice melted and we had rain falling from the ceiling!

It was beautiful here today with temps in the 80s. Thunderstorms started around 11 pm and quickly we were under a tornado warning for southwestern PA. Not something we usually get on our weather news. Have a wonderful Wednesday.

Hope you are getting most of the paper work finished. Sometimes it seems as if the more you get done, the more they can come up with to do.

Love other people's blogs!

Sunday, April 29, 2012

I read a cute cartoon yesterday in somebody's blog,, it was two people on treadmills at the gym,, one lady told the other that her favorite exercise was CHEWING!

Chewing is not what got ME here, swallowing is!! If not for gum, I would have died long ago from all the food chewing!! That was BS(before Spark), I am in a new lifestyle now, gleaning all the new exercises I can from here,,,
thank you to all those who share on their pages,, it is a world of difference to see what others do and do not do, that helps me.

Awesome! For me, it was the chewing that got me in trouble! I have a weak jaw (a trait I have inherited from my mother's side of the family) and both joints have been worn down a long time ago. They have been unusually pointy since I was a child. Fortunately, the damage is no longer progressing. Unfortunately, though, I fear that my addiction to chewing gum has began to cause some serious damage, because my jaw joints have became quite painful! I had major jaw operation when I was 19 and I don't want any wear and tear that could undo what they have done! Luckily, when I quit chewing gum cold turkey a month ago, my jaw joints are now largely pain free. I still have to be gentle, though. They usually hurt when I take the first bite into an apple. I tend to make it too big and it hurts a little. I must be more careful!
