I slept well last night:drank less than usual later on in the day, so actually got to sleep THREE WHOLE HOURS in a row!! That is unheard of for me unless I take a Rx pain pill..

DD mowed our lawn while I watched tv through my eyelids this morning after work!! The norm is for me to be awakened by her shouting at me, then I go shower and stay awake the rest of the day.. OFS to the max..

Today was bill-paying day,, kind of like dentist day for me,, Almost half of them paid for the month,, about twelve,, so now I coast along and wait for more to fly into my mailbox. I got some beautiful greeting cards from Paralyzed Vets,, I have been supporting them for about 35 years,, but these cards are very good quality, embossed, tri-folds,, very nice, ,, I proudly bear their sticker on my car window.. Bless them,,

I feel such a sense of relief getting those bills paid,, had to make a few calls to the bank and credit unions.. getting ACH deposits confirmed, bank made a mistake on mom's deposit slip which I caught,, for 3 cents,, but 3 cents is 3 cents,,

Still wondering why I did not take any accounting classes while in college..
to answer about yesterdays smoothies,, we do not make them often until it gets very hot out,, like June-Sept. We average about 70-85% humidity here those months, so when we are outdoors, nothing helps better than a nice fresh smoothie,, my diabetes thanks that blender,, it helps my BS boost when I come in from doing a day of yard work after working at my job....

I absolutely love the almond soy milk on dry cereal,, cheerios and Rice Krispies taste great, no sugars needed and it is thick and decadent tasting.. we did use it some smoothies too, but usually we add fresh spinach and flax seed, my yard berries and nanners,,,

Winter again??

Tuesday, April 10, 2012

Wow!! We just returned from mowing parents lawn.. I had a longjohn shirt, a sweatshirt, a winter hooded jacket and My nose is still frozen!! They have over two acres of grass to cut, but a smaller JOhn Deere mower,, DD is going to mow our lawn tomorrow,, our tractor is twice the size of theirs and cuts a four foot swath at a time, getting it done faster.
They also have a 100 acre field across the road from their front yard, so the 15mph winds were biting into my face while I was out there.. NO hanging around: I came home quickly and now have to make phone calls and pay bills.. get the recycling refuse out to the street,, we have piles of it!! we recycle everything!!!
NO sunshine either, so it mad me want to get indoors right away.

We are also experimenting with healthier smoothies.. mango with strawberries, raspberry with peach or banana,, less yogurt, no sweeteners.. agave nectar once in awhile...

After all that high temperatures in March, we had snow, sleet and hail on Tuesday. Still cold. Hope it warms back up again!!! Your smoothies sound yummy.

I was told not to drink my food by a nutrtionist. I also remember Jack Lalane who made the juice machine say that you should always "CHEW" your juice.
When your jaw moves up and down as in chewing it releases saliva and the enzyme PTYALIN that is needed to begin digestion. When you just swallow the drink down there is no beginning of digestion.
We never had an ice box or refrigerator so lucky me dislikes anything cold.

We had a snow squall on Easter Sunday and very cold winds and rain this morning. Later it was sunny. My Daffodils are still holding back, even they know it is too cold. emoticon emoticon emoticonPat in Maine.

    Brrrrrrrrrr that sounds darn cold.
You should hire a gardener but it would cost just way too much. Or find you a sugar daddy?

Hugz! Stay warm.

I'm trying smoothies also but I thank goodness don't care for them very sweet.

I do lots of spinach and fruit, chia, flax but no sweetners.

Tell me more!

Our temperature has dropped too, and I even saw snow flurries! Not enough to stick or anything, but just seeing those snow flakes made me feel a lot colder.

Don't live in your area but we are experiencing the same thing. Temperature has dropped dramatically and are even saying chance of wet snow overnight.

Probably pay back - when I was home on Friday I went through the closet and put all the winter wear away!!!!

I'm not a smoothie person either. I prefer to actually chew my calories then drink them. I get more satisfaction out of them that way - but each to their own.

I wished I like smoothies. They sound so good. I'm not a big juice drinker nor a yogurt or milk lover. I prefer veggies over fruit. They just seem too sweet.

MOnday

Monday, April 09, 2012

Nothing special today,, sleeping slightly better now that I am taking two whole 200mg Ibuprofen at bedtime... Pretty strong stuff for me, but I get to sleep for two whole hours at a time until about2 a.m.!!!
Tomorrow Dd and I start mowing parents lawn and then ours, it will be about two acres or more of grass, but we team work it and get them done pretty quickly. LAst year we waited longer to mow parents and we ended up raking their entire back yard that took two days just to rake it... not again...

I'm glad you are sleeping well!! emoticon

That must have been hard work! emoticon At least it would be easier now that the grass isn't as long-no raking! emoticon

I was noticing our grass needs to be raked again. I had all the leaves raked but the others blew down the street and settled her again. Our weather is still cold but my miniature daffodils are struggling to blossom. The Azalea is looking good and I keep thinking it might get warmer some day.
I am glad you are able sleep a little better, HUGS Pat in Maine emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon

It's good that you got more sleep.
Can't you sue a leaf blower on the grass? Or gass catcher o the mower?

Holy Saturday

Saturday, April 07, 2012

When Dd wakes up, we are going to get a gift card for my younger sister for her birthday, to send with her card, then on to the marsh and park to walk,, who knows where after that..
I feel much better today: I broke down and actually took a whole pain pill that doc gave me. He suggested I take a half to try out since these are much stronger than the other ones that knocked me out for two days. I took a half last weekend and it did nothing, so last night I took a whole one, it was so nice, no pain to sleep,, I still got up five times to teh bathroom in 7 hours, but that is normal..
I did get to sleep two whole hours in a row, which is a miracle..
I am up to this beautiful sunny Holy Saturday, want to get some baking in later...

LINDA, I am very happy you are doing better, I was concerned you were coming down with some thing. Just over working I think.
Great you and DD are walking together. Enjoy the day.

I hope you will be able to tolerate the pain pill if you need it again. Hopefully it will be helpful to you.
Enjoy your Holy Saturday and I hope you and DD have a lovely Easter Sunday. Pat in Maine.
I also have planned a baking session for DH (((((Hugs)))) again.
They are also forecasting SNOW again. Another white Easter I suspect. emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon
