Turns out...

Monday, March 26, 2012

Well, I wrote yesterday's blog at 4:32 A.M., so it turns out, it did not rain, the sky was blue, temps in the high 70's and windy. I suggested to DD that we return to Tobico Marsh and get some fresh air and cardio on our bods.
She filled up our handy-dandy Nature Made hip aluminum water bottles, we clipped them on our belt loops and grabbed the camera and binoculars again.
She got some more great shots,, even a frog sunning himself.. We still did not explore the whole marsh yet,, my teensy bladder and diuretics make it impossible for us to do the complete huge miles long circle.. Next time we will start at the opposite end and go back towards Lake Huron.

Today I made my calls to the investment brokers to get cost basis's from all of them: it was easier than I thought,, now all I have to do is await the faxes and do my homework of accounting for all of mom's pharmacy things form 2011, add them up and take everything back to CPA..
Worked extra hour today and still on the hoof to get some things done here,,
I am so happy that I did not stress about those investments. I had a wonderful weekend despite the tax preparing setback!!

Sounds like a great day all 'round, Linda! I hear you about the bladder / diuretics - this afternoon we went to one of the local National Trust parks for a walk. Thought about going somewhere else, to a trail, but I said to Himself 'At least when we're over at the NT, they have public bathrooms, whereas there aren't any on the trail, and even if there was a section where nobody's around (lol) I'm too old for that--!' So the convenience(s) of the park won...

Parents, taxes, red tape,oh my!

Saturday, March 24, 2012

So I spend countless hours with Elder Law attorneys, bank managers, V.A. reps, accountants, investment brokers and bankers, use up enough toner and reams of paper to cover my State in 2011.
I log enough fax and phone time to rival the 1969 moon landing talk-time. I make mom tax appointment, have all my ducks(I think) in a row, only to find that investment bankers and brokers, agents, etc, know diddly squat about tax requirements!!!

I now have to get on the horn Monday after work, go through the proverbial hoops with all of them except the attorneys, just go get some answers to what they messed up in our investments last year.
Darned near rebuilt my Dad's house in one year and 99% of it is not any good for tax credits!!

In my B.S life(before Sparks) I would have stormed and steamed throughout this weekend , giving THEM my days off.
Excuse my French, but now I just say, "Screw them all, I deserve this time off and it isn't even MY money anyway!"
I took a big deep breath on the drive home from this afternoon's appointment and left my frustration on the corner of State and Union Streets!!
Wow! That is so freeing!
For anybody that ever read "The Peter Principle" you can relate to the incompetency of these "Professionals" .
Okay, nuff said until after the weekend.. I am off like a dirty shirt, to enjoy today!!

    Professional Peters!

Roberts moms VA benefits... They told him rather than the year as we thought it would take is now taking 18 months thanks to Obama. that's what the VA told him.

Relax and enjoy the rest of your weekend. You deserve it.

Alright Pickie98, your weather forecast makes us neighbors, so to speak. You are in Michigan though - still makes us neighbors here on Cyberspace.

My plan for tomorrow - indoors on the treadmill, some strength - and lots of "work work" - we are slammed busy (happy problem)

And time for the kiddos...

Clothes on the clothesline,,(DD helped me), daffodils and weeds sprouting everywhere,, time for snow again ,. probably next week!
I am thinking maybe we can start this hiking in the park thing more often until it gets so humid we are unable to breathe the air outdoors.
Today being bill-paying day, made me realize how blessed I am to have access to money to pay my mom;'s bills,,
I am also blessed that there are self adhesive stamps!!!! emoticon
