I'll trade bills with ANYONE!!!!

Thursday, March 08, 2012

today is the dreaded bill-paying day. It still amazes me how just those ten or twelve little envelopes can contain over $10,000!!! That is only half of the bills too. I shiver when the credit card bills come. Our heating bill is s-l-o-w-l-y coming down,, in increments of $20..
MY bill however, still had an estimated gas amount!
My gas meter is in the front of my home, next to the front porch, with two foot space to walk between bushes and porch. I have lived in this house for almost 28 years and nobody has ever NOT been able to fit in that space and read that meter!! They have totally ignored our whole house and skipped our place to read everybody Else's meter thousands of times,, put a card in my door while DD was standing right in the window one foot away from them, so I had to read my own meter!!!
When I received my bill last week, I also got a letter in a separate envelope, telling me that they estimated my gas bill because: and left a blank space, so I called there today and she told me it is because there is no room to get in to read the meter. I told her how big I am, that I trim the bushes in summer, that if I can fit in there, anybody can!! and if the meter reader is bigger than I am, then I apologize and I will yank the whole bush out before the next reading,, She apologized to me, left a note that they should try again,,(har har)..

I felt a wonderful sense of relief when handing the bills to DD to put in mailbox. She returned with yesterday's mail that had two more bills in it. Normally that is not a big issue, but one of them is mom's pharmacy bill,, again,, last month I thought it was bad because they charged her full price on everything, disregarding the fact that her insurance coverage from the County(Dad was a deputy) changed to a new company and card. Last month I sat and made phone calls, faxed this and that, made copies, of everything, documented it all,, filed everything.. ta-da!! This month the bill is even higher!! $650!!!
Back I go to the telephone to the same person that I dealt with 2/10/12,, not even a month ago!! LUNCH HOUR OF COURSE!!

Their level of incompetence is surpassed only by their audacity to be surprised that anybody is upset that they messed it up yet again!!!!!!!!!!!
So, I sit here, my mantra is "Serenity now, Serenity now...... no high BP for me..
For less than two cents, I would answer the phone and speak only in Spanish,, no, , but it is a wicked thought.. one more stair-step up that ladder to heaven, I hope,, wonder how many there are,, I would like to do double-duty and just leap up about fifty of them today,,,

Mom's bills account for 3/4 of them,, now I am getting used to handling such huge amounts of $$ each month,, should have been an accountant..

Are you able to do a budget plan for your gas bill? That is what we do - they figure it once a year, and then I pay the same amount every month. This has worked well for us for years. My gas bill this past year has been less than $100 a month. Sometimes I round it up a little and pay a little extra each month as a buffer for unexpected price/delivery increases. I do the same with our electric bill, too.

Can't help you with the pharmaceutical bills; just read or heard on the news yesterday that the cost of prescriptions for seniors has increased 26% just in the past year alone! That's ridiculous!

Your gas meter and your mothers pharmacy situation both are no laughing matter. I'd contact managers and bosses . I ahve county coverage as well and don't ahve to pay that much on drugs. $1.10 or $3.30 is all or even free at times.

You ahve it so tough.

Hang in there friend.

Wow - certainly glad I don't have to fight medical companies for prescriptions etc. Bureaucacy isn't fun.

You msy want to take all of your frustration (well deserved) and put it into exercising. Work it out of your system.

Well, staples delivery guy delivered the box with yet another office chair for us to assemble,,DD had everything put together by the time I got home from work, so we finally finished that project,, the holes still were not lined up correctly on that one either!!
We went to the credit union so we could make some deposits and came back home to do our daily things,, Not much new here,, just doing laundry and dishes,, easy day at work,,
I am reminded how blessed we are ; a dear friend took her dad down to Ann Arbor to the University of Michigan hospital for surgery,, he has been in constant pain for over two years, but was too stubborn to get seen by a doc,, now it is so severe they do not know how much relief they can give him,, I pray for all of them today,,,

Went to staples with DD to buy a new office chair that was on sale, of course!! My middle name!! $170 chair for $79.99 for two days only.. I had some gift cards to use there, so off we go!

Now, anybody who actually ever reads any of my blogs should have a clue where this is going.
I pay for the chair, buy the added three year warranty that goes beyond the manufacturers five year one,, so if ANYTHING happens to this chair , they send me my entire purchase price and I get to keep the chair.
Worker zooms the carton with chair inside, out to my car, loads it in,,, I was willing to pay the $7 to assemble it, but then it would not fit in my car, even when I put the back seats down..
We got it home, DD(she did 99%) and I get everything assembled EXCEPT the left arm.. ten minutes to do the whole chair up to this point,,BUT Linda's Law: one of the metal stems that hold the threads where the screws go, is not lined up with others,, like one inch off-kilter,, so for an hour we both tugged, pulled unscrewed, re-screwed, etc, sore, swollen fingers and my BP soaring,, I call the help center.
They tell me to call the store to get a replacement, wince this has to be a manufacturer's error.DUH!

I call staples, they tell me the same, so we load the chair up, stuff it in my back seat,, and we return it, get all of the paper work so they can ship me another one tomorrow..

Not too often that you will hear this in a normal conversation, but here goes, "We were one screw away from sitting on a comfy chair."

so there it is, our chair adventure... the sequel will follow on Wednesday when the new one arrives on the porch!! More assembly!

So why do you buy new office hair? Did you need it or DD? emoticon

So you go from shopping for hair to buying a chair, you kind of lost me there.

If you take life with a grain of salt your BP will not rise to levels that are not good for you.

Have a great Tuesday my friend.

Spring is coming! We had cold and wintery weather last week and here it is 50' today with even nicer weather forecasted for the rest of the week. I'm expecting my flowers to be poking their heads out of their beds soon. I'm sure there is still some winter to look forward to but I'm sure sure going to enjoy the spring-like days we're getting.

Went to bed to relax watching tv, woke up 8 hours later, sitting up, freezing cold(we turn our thermostat down to 54 at night). Holy Wah!!!!!!
I was sitting ON my new glasses!! How the heck did they get underneath a huge body that is sound asleep?
I cannot believe I slept for 8 solid hours!! I have not done that since last August when I was lazily drowsing in my cabin on Lake Superior!!! IT was a very rough week....
