B is for blizzard!!

Supposed to get up to 11 inches of snow in the next day or so. We all knew the other show was going to drop this month,, those Great Lakes are not full of spit,it has to come from someplace!! It is coming down so hard I cannot see the neighbors across the street(about 60 feet). I have many errands to do tomorrow, but for today, once I got home from work, I was planted on home turf.
I am SO glad I got the V.A papers taken care of yesterday!! Government agencies may not be open today, I am not sure.. I am praying that those that need health care or have medical emergencies today, will be able to get where they need to be safely.

Good Morning...We only got 3 of the 8" they said we were to get. DH is out snow plowing his elderly customers...(he only does elderly) 50 of them...They need to get their drives done so if they have a problem, emergency vehicles can get in and out. One time I got a bunch of calls for Jimmy to come plow and I asked them what's going on. Well, one of their friends had passed away and the funeral was thet day...In a Blizzard !!!! Could you imagine, All of those fols on the roads all at one time???? I hired a limo to pick them all up and take them all at one time and in one vehicle...They were so thankfull.... I went to the county building to see the Veterans affairs guy.. HE is a local guy who represents the American Legion, was very gruff and sour acting, BUT when I told him all the hoops that the women on the phone from all over the U.S had been making me do, he grabbed my paper, filled the rest of it out, whipped out his calculator and had me sign the paper.. I told him that they told me mom had to sign it, that if I was one penny off from the exact amounts, she would lose her benefits and I would have to re start everything from scratch. HE looked at me and said, "Bull--it!!" I lugged a box of papers, receipts,etc, to him for figuring out her expenses. He told m that when he calls them and they find out who he is, they hang up and let the paperwork go through...
I was not expecting him to be on my side since he was kind of mean on the phone and never smiled..
Sooooooo.. now I know who to call when I have a problem!! Instead of hours on hold or calling four states and seventeen agents, making three copies of thirty pages every time, standing in line at the post office to WEIGH the huge manila envelope and post it, I will climb those granite stairs to the local V.A office and let 'ol Art help me out.
Got lots of cardio in too!!

Now you know who to call to make the difference. I am one of those people who when I cannot get something done I call my representatives office and ask for help. It works every time. They e-mail me often and i have their names and e-mails in both computers. LINDA, hopefully this will save you some time and effort on your part. You have gone over and above to get this set up. Today and tomorrow are V.A days yet again for mom.. more piles of paperwork,, got to go th the county building tomorrow after work to get help filling out forms that are so redundant.. apparently I am supposed to plug in my crystal ball and know how much $$ will be spent on moms rehab care and medical expenses for the next 12 months!!

cannot wait for that,, then got to make that darned tax appointment to get her taxes done!! I am just tingling with excitement!!!!!!

This is such a pain having all this tax stuff to do. We never doi it that way in England they just tok it out of the pay checks. It was n ot nearly as complicated as here. busy day

Had an early work day , so made plans with DD to go to parents house,pick up some toiletries for the mom,, then to Walgreen for more old lady stuff:denture cleaner tablets, deodorant, body wash,,,
got to moms living place and she was snoring loudly, could not tap her awake, so instructed staff that we brought everything they called me about yesterday,, aide then asks:Did you bering her razors?" HUH??
It is 12 miles round trip with a gazillion traffic lights, trains, bridges,etc.. I use double the gas in my car to drive those 12 miles than I do for a whole week to get to work!!! and back!!

Razors are next trip,,, did not even ask what needs to be shaved, do not want to know either..
had lunch, doing laundry, more calls to V.A. about more paperwork..

it began snowing again during lunch...

Well dang! I wonder what a woman your moms age needs razors for, too. they should ahve a hair salon there at her place that can do facial waxing. Mom used "Neet" or "Nair" when she was in assisted living. I hope you got some time in with her. Report Inappropriate Comment

Gosh it is cold out there, right to our bones! flannel everything or insulated everything!! I force myself to stand outdoors for a few minutes to absorb some free Vitamin D,, sunlight,, when the sun comes through the clouds,, this is the first day I have seen an icicle this winter!! It has not been warm enough for anything to melt after a snowfall..

LINDA, we were raised wearing flannel in England if it was not flannel it was wool. Not the merino They talk about on this site but the coarse itchy stuff. My mother discovered that wool made me itch so she bought Lanolin to put on my chapped legs. They got so much worse the Dr told her not to use anything. She switched to putting vaseline and flannel on my legs and they healed. When I had skin issues over here the Allergist said I was allergic to Lanolin. I would love to try merino leggings, I am hoping to find some on sale soon so I will have them for next year.
