Tee Hee, you sound like me last year. I just couldn't wait to go with the kids to Orlando. So you are going to your favoritest resort on the lake? Saturday night I made funnel cakes with blackberry toping for dessert. I was so thankful for all the blackberry picking we had done last August.. I was thinking about you, and your last berry picking experience. Wishing you much better luck this year!!

How do you get your berries home, to you take a special cooler for them emoticon

199 more days!!! Yippee!!! I am sure you will be like me, the first night (and every night, that I wasn't asleep before my head hit the pillow) I just gave thanks to have the kids with us, safely tucked into their beds, in the next rooms..

Turkey Day!

Sunday, February 05, 2012

This weekend was about purging more boxes and tubs of stuff from the basement, but today I am making a turkey dinner for us,, and to use the rest of the week in various dishes,, T-sandwiches on whole grain, sugar free bread, turkey, rice broccoli casserole,, turkey on greens salad,, real turkey salad , like tuna salad,, on toast.

Still not snow, possibly getting a dusting on Tuesday,, still cold out though.. yesterday I baked two types of cookies, carrot bread, orange-cranberry bread, cinnamon muffins(DD favorite)..

Batch cooking helps us to eat healthier, not feeling like cooking during the week, so freezing portioned plates for us with leftovers keeps us on track.

It all sounds YUMMY! I do that once in awhile too! Really makes things easier during the week by making dinner a no brainer.

I always thought batch cooking sounded wonderful. But since I'm home everyday, it's almost easier for me to cook each day.

It's odd that is the place I never manage to get completed and it is n ot for the want of trying. Everything disappears down there to make room for upstairs but despite having a basement door. I can never part with anything. Some day it might be of use to me.
I think i become a hoarder as I descend the stairs. HUGS LINDA, Pat in Maine.

My driveway looked like heaven after this week at work. I took a deep breath, showered, and am now going to do some relaxing, lunch with Dd and then some more cardio and strength...

following up.

Thursday, February 02, 2012

I want a job at the Medical mall near me. Five people sitting around, all they had to do was send one copy of my MRI to my family doc,, sure, no prob!! they say.. nine days later, I call my family doc office to discover that they did not even know I HAD a MRI!! Back to the phone... call X-ray, ,, no hospital did not make another copy and send to my doc,,
this guy said he will be happy to do it now..
I still have to wait six more days to see the neurosurgeon to get results!
The Peter Principle!!!

In total agreement, too. Seems very few people in the service industry want to do the job they are getting paid for. Unfortunately you must be a "squeaky wheel" to get done what you need to be done.

i did battle with insurance/dr. office/prescriptions yesterday. Supposed to be following up today, but the gray skies have gotten the better of me. I swear that my dr. office has a shredder and when they get mail they just dump it in there.

I AM IN TOTAL AGREEMENT HERE LINDA.
Too many places hire people and they are often undertrained because they are underpaid. I am really upset that these individuals have access to our medical info since it is all on computers now.
Before I leave the hospital after I have bood work I ASK what is the time frame for results. I TELL XRAY where these are to be sent including a copy for me. If I have things like scans and Xrays I ask for a disc copy. I am so FED up with this I am collecting a bunch of X-rays and reports at the house.
BEFORE I go to the lab I ask what orders were faxed to them. TWICE they have said they had no orders and once I fasted 14 hours for an Aic. The lipid profile was filed separetely so I had to fast again. At this time I am in charge, no idea what I will do if I am too ill to do all of this. There has to be a better way. emoticon emoticon emoticon
