Microwave is on the shelf, dishwasher hooked up, stove ready(need to add outlet next to it, so not yet,,
got tractor repaired, will hope to have a real sink and faucet to use tomorrow,,,

got to train at work tomorrow,, excitement never ends,, went to jail and apid moms' ticket from accident,, better her than me..

ANYBODY NEED SOME BROCCOLI RUBBER BANDS OR A SLIGHTLY USED STAINLESS STEEL HOOD VENT THAT VENTS BACK IN YOUR FACE??CHEAP??

DAY 19

Watered glass is clear glass, but it looks like it has little raindrops in it, they are little air bubbles,, I love it, have it in all three of my new exterior light fixtures; I am going to see if they can just apply it over the existing clear glass,, easier to clean but same effect,, that is how the etched glass is, in my front door.. clear glass on both sides to clean easier..
as far as being organized, Patsy and Dan had this cute little timeline she typed up for a two week finish time to do the job,, Kristy and I read it in front of them and turned to each other and burst out laughing!!
We TRIED to explain that this is MY house, that it is like that movie MONEY PIT, but no hubby,, just a poorly made home, that EVERYTHING has to be completely re-done from scratch..
they looked at me like, "She doesn't know how to do building,we will tell her". they proceeded to tell me how Dan built five homes, they flip houses every year, yadayadayada....
Well, it is now three weeks in, and another week to go easily,,every time Dan tried to do something, he ended up tearing out something else to do it to code...
Linda's Law,, nobody believes until they actually start a project here,,,
I now have two new members of my congregation:patsy and Dan..LOL! Joe was the same way,, he is a card-carrying member of believers of this Linda's Law!!
I have not heard a word about that darned timeline either, BUT I kept it,, for part of my renovation projects notebook,, for a goof,,

It also takes longer because they never start work until about 9 or 10, leave for long lunch, then quit work about 3 or 4...
When Joe, the guy that did all my other renovations, was here, he worked until dark after he got out of his regular job, then from 8-8 on weekends,, a half hour lunch, sometimes,,

The Knotty Alder mopboards look so nice,, beautiful grain,, match the hickory so well,,
I have to say, these upper cabinets are REEEALLY TALL! I do not regret them, I did not want dust collecting shelving above for health reasons, even though I would love to have my antique tin collection there, I need my STUFF upstairs, not schlepping up and down the ten stairs to get things when I am more old and decrepit than I already am!!

I cannot believe I have an actual floor that does not need cleanser, brillo pads, a deck brush and straight bleach, to clean!! Only mild soap and water!!
BE STILL MY HEART!!!
And soon, handles and knobs, a stove to cook on!! And, miracle of miracles, a faucet that actually has water coming out of it, WITH a built-in sprayer!! That Moen junk is history,, I love Delta, only quality,, not hype,,
For the past two years we have had the water line that was connected to the sprayer, lying in the sink and that is how we got our water!! If we wanted water to come out of the faucet, we had to put our finger over the top of the hose, and the water would come out of the faucet,,
if the hose fell down through the hole where the sprayer was SUPPOSED to be, the water sprayed all over under the sink, mold all over,,
we spent more time on our knees and backs repairing and cleaning from that, than we did deck brushing the floor!!
Plus, since the floor was so uneven, all the water that went on the floor drained right under my stove, or fridge or dishwasher,, lovely mold under there too..

DAY 18

Finally got our refrigerator out of the living room and into the kitchen, but it took three of us, a hand truck, lots of cardboard, and time,, horsed it into its' cubbyhole, got the water line hooked up, then took all the shelving out and hauled it to the basement to clean, Kristy cleaned the interior..
One job down and 1,000 to go.. no work doing all weekend, Dan now has kidney stones,, so they will not work at all until Monday,,
I called appliance place and ordered new filter for water line to icemaker and interior cold water dispenser,,

We also carried my dining table into the dining area,, on cardboard of course,,
that is no mean feat, my table is solid oak with two pedestals, seven feet long(nine feet with the two leaves in it).. it is very heavy,,

cleaned the patio door, screens, installed the cabinets above refrigerator,

we can now get into the half bath, kitchen, living room and hallway,, until now we had to go outside, come through kitchen, squeeze into hallway around fridge and two base cabinets,,

Dining area lighting fixture will be going in MOnday,, before appliance delivery,,

my back is killing me,, but lots to do,,
tomorrow is going to glass store to see if they can put watered glass in my china cabinet doors, attaching it to my plain glass now there..

for tonight we are trying to wind down,, lots of running around tomorrow,,

DAY 16

Felt better at work today, came home to find my cabinets being placed in my kitchen,,upper cabinets and base ones are sliding around right now..
we did have to do a switcheroo: I felt there was a little too tight a fit between cabinet and where oven door will open, so we switched a base cabinet of drawers to go north of the dishwasher and put the narrower cabinet with a door and drawer across from the oven space..

I also ordered my three appliances to be delivered Monday afternoon..
Dan will install the dishwasher, has rewired the whole room, and the flooring goes down tomorrow..

No word from MOM WORLD, so I am assumoing they are busier than one-armed paper hangers with her today,,WELCOME TO MY WORLD!!!!!

I am praying for all of them her included, to get along, utilize their skills and strengths and everybody find some happiness,,

Linda lets hope it can stay this way for a while and you will be able to concentrate on your home project. We had the same problem with the drawers and doors and i made sure the door opens AWAY from the oven door when it was opened That way the oak door is not against the hot area. DAY 15

Went home sick from work afte rtwo hours;;vomiting and diarrhea,, most likely stress, but still feel icky,,
flooring guy is laying underlay, painting is finished, friends are here installing cabinets,,
today mom goes to rehab facility,, in town,,
Director just called here and gave me his half hours spiel,, fell asleep while he was talking,,LOL!
They are a short term place, so we will see if she makes it even shorter by performing her one-act-play for them,,

Sending up my prayers fro that staff, they need it, God help them all..
back to work tomorrow,, have not seen my cabinets up yet, even though I stayed home, because even though I was home sick I got eleven phone calls between social workers and this last guy,,
cannot even be sick at home,, going to venture away from phone to see my ktichen,,
thank you all for your support,, it is what keeps me sane and going,,,

Dear girl, does your phone not have an off button? You so need a mental health day. You know one just for yourself, no phone calls, no Mom, a turn to yourself day, a shower or long bath, a good book or a chick flick tv station or just pull the covers up and forget the world day. You are so worth it, and then maybe things will not seem quite so awful Maybe they can medicate your Mom? as a last resort effort to make her more cooperative? As you know a couple of refusals of rehab therapy and out she goes. Anyway our love and support are sure with you during this trying time, and you know, just maybe she is serving as an example to some of us to be more thankful for our lives. Linda ,I am sorry its this awful for you. Did your sister ever show up, is she taking any responsibility in the situation. I hope the social workers are looking out for your best interests as well as Moms. I take it Mom is over her injuries by now, she must be livid if she cannot drive any more but it sounds like that is definitely in the general publics best interest. I hope those cabinets please you when you finally see them in Place. Glad you hve friends to help as well as Spark friends who are here for you. I hope the stress and GI problems are gone by now.
