Been to San Angelo when our son was stationed there several years back. Nice little town. But it's very hot and very humid there in the summer - worse than here. Landscape is nothing much to look at either. If you could make peace with the seasons, you have a pretty good spot with beautiful scenery.

Don't envy you! I remember what Michigan taxes were like! I enjoy Texas where there is no state income tax, and property taxes are lower!

Feeling like I accomplished something yesterday,, visited parental unit(mom) in morning, dodged crazy blizzard drivers, had a delicious lunch with gift certificates, had lots of leftovers for dinner, so did not have to cook yesterday!!

I finally decided that since it is getting close to valentine's day, it was time to take the Christmas tree down and pack it for sale. We tested all of our sets of lights, sorted through boxes of decorations that I am parting with for sale,, loaded that big rubbermaid coffin in my back seat with HALF of the tree,, only one coffin will fit in my car,, even with my back seats down I cannot fit one in my trunk too, so that will be two trips to the parental abode.. we take sale things every trip there..

I cleaned one bathroom, sorted bills, mail, loaded dishwasher and vacuumed carpets after tree removal,, we now have our little teeny living room back to normal for the year. Nest year we will use the much smaller tree I bought after Christmas so we do not have to hid e in the corner in a chair!! Gonna miss that beautiful big tree though..

I know I always complain about winter and cold,, it is a major source of discomfort in my life, mentally and mostly physically, but this year it was the best: Florida's weather has been cold, so I do not feel like I am missing anything down there, our weather has been extremely mild for Michigan..
we are already sitting here discussing what we will bring and do on vacation in 7 1/2 months!! DD made a great suggestion that includes a short visit to my friend in the Yoopee that I did not plan on,, so now we are focusing on that instead of this cold...

Got more VA papers to fill out, in the mail yesterday,, exact papers I just sent them from before.. more calls, faxes, etc.. mom has no clue what this entails.. if only...

The VA is really messed up! Actually went there to take care of some business with my DH who was still active duty militarily at the time. We sat there for 2 and a half hours while to two "govie admins" sat there and chatted about their respective boyfriends, totally ignoring us! Big boss, a woman, happened to come out of her back office, and asked my husband how long we had been waiting. When he told her, I thought she was going to have a major stroke! We were out with what we needed in 5 minutes! Will never forget that one!

LINDA, that VA is such a mess. I was told the VA had really good insurance for veterans and spouses, I guess that is not proving to be the case for you.
Too bad there is such a hassle especially with duplicate papers.

Sorry, like your time is not precious?.

    LOL @ the VA mess.

think of the snow, ice and rain and a resource for the squirrels and birds and your grass and trees. Good watering for the spring.

We got about 3" of the white stuff durin g the night but it's melting fast.

A day off..

Saturday, January 14, 2012

The snow finally stopped about 10pm last evening,, it is heavy from all the rain and sleet,, what a white mess,, dreaming of our vacation this summer keeps me happy and distracted. This weather keeps the pain levels high though, took a drug to help last evening,, I have too much to do today to sleep today away.. housework and bills never stop... am just happy that my home is intact..

DD and I saw a huge house fire yesterday on the way to parental unit home to check it.. three roads blocked off, too many trucks to count, hoses from two blocks away to get water IN THE BLIZZARD of course..
we both prayed that everybody got out safely and firemen are okay,, one of them is our neighbor..

All of the cities major fires were in the winter. Three since we came here. M massive cotton mill Bates Mill where they made the bedspreads burned for days. A clothing store with apartments on our main street was blazing and the water was freezing on the firemen and ladders. People were making them hot soup and whatever they wanted right in the street. The photos of those Fireman i will always remember. I had a shop on that same street and directly across from my shop the building caught fire and a man died in that one, they were sure he was smoking in bed. Once again firemen were covered in ice. All of those spaces were taken over by the city. Bates was several acres on the river with a Dam. Now it is a city property. The dam was removed and wells ran dry but Eagles Salmon,
Heron and Alewives came back to the river, MEMORIES (((((HUGS))))) Pat in Maine.
