So far, better winter here!

Monday, December 12, 2011

We have received one snowfall this winter:5inches a couple weeks ago.. it is all melted, but still slightly chilly outdoors:28 degrees.

Ever since I went to Florida for a week to Disney in December of 2007, I have been severely depressed each winter. Maybe because I did not work for the past three months or lack of snowfall, or me not preparing the yard for winter,, but I do know that we are already headed towards the third week of December and I am handling this cold, dark weather. It is a real issue for me, I never get depressed about anything else,,,
I got back on the treadmill yesterday and was gasping after a quarter mile, only to discover that DD had moved the incline way up.. Out came the inhaler and my legs were wobbly,, I cannot do hills.. never could actually,,, I can walk for miles flat out,, will graduate my workout to get back to where I was pre-surgery.

You are doing a great job!!! Take one day at a time and just do what you can as you build yourself back up. I can't do hills either but I also can walk miles on flat ground.
Each day is a blessing and your blessings multiply depending on the choices you make. Count your blessings as you make healthy and happy choices. Share a smile and a hug today!!!

Don't worry, you will slowly work up to it again! Just increase the incline gradually! emoticon

LINDA Our weather is not seasonal either , It has me a bit worried.
I know the minute I plan something the weather will go down hill fast. I am sure that is why I am feeling stuck here like glue. I just have to keep on trucking,

DECEMBER 21 st is not too faraway. HUGS Pat in Maine emoticon emoticon emoticon

Lin, you're doing fantastic so far. Face it we're not getting younger. I can't do hills either and I live up two hills from the main highways. Take it nice and slow and you will be fine.

DD needs a spanking for raising that incline.

Have a great week.

"The best laid plans of mice and men.."
If you read yesterday's blog, I had grand plans,,huh! I slept the whole day IN THE CHAIR! I am not kidding,, DD tried to wake me up a lot of times, I was passed out,, Drank my liquids, stood up, sat down and slept, all day,, I know I did nto get more than a few hours sleep each night past week and worked very hard once there, so I know my bod was catching up, plus I am back to taking the lasix twice a day. That causes drowsiness.. NO sitting today until I get my work done,,

Well that sleep was well deserved. Ask DD to take pictures of you dozing in the chair like that. It would make for an interesting blog. I sure wish i could sleep like that I jsut can't Wouldn't the chair hurt your back? Were you aching when you woke up?

Hope your 2nd week back is not as hard on you as the 1sst. Hugs

I made it through a whole week!

Saturday, December 10, 2011

I survived coming back to work and starting to get back on my schedule of arising and meals, exercise, etc. The problem is, one day I must rise at 4:45 am, the next 4, the next 3, then back to 4,,,,
The hot stone massages were a stroke of genius, if I do pat myself on the back for this,, my lower back was screaming all week, but my masseuse used some reflexology and focused on that, so I feel much better. I scheduled another for this Thursday, but she is on vacation after that until January2,2012.
I will still be on half days this coming week, so no packing of work breakfast, so I will still have to adjust that the following week. I opted to begin 3/4 days beginning then, so will make the readjustment then.
Today is wrapping gifts, making phone calls, cleaning and whatever.

Two more weeks!

Friday, December 09, 2011

Two weeks from tomorrow is Christmas eve, the celebration of the birth of Our Savior. How the time flies, seems like he was just born and such a small baby... remember saying that about your own children?

Every year I pull out a frame that has pictures of our daughter with Santa at age 1,2,3 &4. It is bittersweet to see her in her Christmas finery as a baby and small child and realize that she is now a grown woman and an ER doctor. Time does fly but God and love are constants in our lives.

getting colder

Thursday, December 08, 2011

It is finally becoming much colder this week:the melted snow on teh pool cover is now frozen halfway through. NO more pumping the water off that cover now until next year..
I went to get my hot stone massage again, scheduled another for next week too! I love the nice feeling of getting rid of my lower back pain..
Once I get back to working full shifts, I will not be able to get them anymore.. so taking advantage..

I really hate the effect that cold weather has on me. If I didn't love my daughter more than 4 months of aggravation and higher pain levels, I would move!

I am so with you AJQUILTER, I feel like I have lost my insulation.
In fact today I saw the acupunturist to try to help me stay warmer in winter. I am having Thyroid tests tomorrow too.
Those HOT stone massages sound great. I use a hot rice bag on my aching lower back and then when I go to bed I snuggle with my rice bag.
MY DH wears an Apnea mask so I have not been able to rely on him for a while now. It's OK we can still snuggle during the day/ HUGS LINDA.

Will you be able to have the shorter hours over the holidays???I hope that works out for you.
HUGS Pat in Maine. xoxox

A hot stone massage sounds delightful! It is finally starting to get cold here, and I am
not ready for it. Since I lost 45 lbs, I feel the cold a lot more.
