Another cold, very windy day here in Michigan. An omen of things to come. We have enough leaves down to fill about 40 or 50 leaf bags, but the trees are not even half empty,, gee, why do I HATE fall and winter????

Yeah, it was pretty windy when we were up there a couple of weeks ago, too.

Linda, I am with you. We were supposed to go to a concert, I keep coughing and no voice but I went outdoors and it was a nice day so I raked pine needles and filled 12 bags, the very large 40 gallon size, boy those are heavy but when the needles get in the pool they plug the lines so it had to be done.. emoticonI never intended to do it but it felt good, it was relaxing and it energised me. Now I can look from my kitchen window and see grass not pine needles and pine cones.

I do not like the cold either, I would love to go South but DH cannot tolerate the heat. I figure I can put on another layer but once you are too hot you have no place to go except to stay inside in A/C. We are expecting rain tonight and very windy so more leaves, most of the pines are down now. Now I get my neighbors maples leaves. We are at the end of the street so the leaves accumulate in our front yard, just like the snow does. HUGS, Pat in Maine. emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon. emoticon

Cold, rainy, very windy, no sun, ,, thus it will be now until March or April 2012!! One bright note is that the mail lady approached me last week regarding moving my mailbox from my front yard to next-door neighbor's post in their yard. U.S postal service provides the post, does all the work,, I will just have to walk across our two driveways or out into the road to retrieve my mail. Apparently, they are moving everybody's postal box they can, even those on porches or in peoples yards for safety reasons.
The ONLY reason I am agreeing to it is the fact that I will not have a hassle with them about plowing and shoveling around my mailbox anymore. HOWEVER, we have not had the mean, snarky mailwoman in a few months,, all the different ones we get are very nice, so it may be a moot point.
The bad side is, no more slipper-shod feet zipping out to the end of the lawn;now it is real boots or shoes!

Boiler installation is coming along fine. HVAC guy Dan, says they should complete it after all day again Monday,, bad start with him being alone the first day.. THE old boiler weighed over three hundred pounds , new one half that..

Next project is upstairs bathroom toilet repair, along with updates to both our toilets and bathtub faucets. I put call into handyJoe last night,, waiting on that.
DD and I went to furniture store after leaving parents house; big promotion to wind furniture.. I was hoping for new tables for living room or bedroom outfit. We won a fleece blanket.. oh well, better than a kick in the pants..

today, if DD feel better, we go out for her birthday lunch...

The last 20 years I lived in California no matter where it was at a whole block of houses ahd to walk about a block or across the street to a group of mailboxes and sue a key to get in. Here i ahve a slot in my door and they just drop the amil to my entrance floor. It's pleasant and conventient.

Nice luck you ahve this apst week. first the DVD here on SP and now the blanket.

Linda I hope you and DD have a really lovely birthday celebration meal. It really does a body good, to be able to bond with your offspring. I can only do it by phone. I never had cards in England the boys and i made our own cards but now i have told them no cards just a small conversation. Eldest Son called late,No problem, Middle son called and we had a long talk. Youngest son works odd hours on the west coast but his daughter and her Mom called and sang the birthday song to the answering machine, Just a great day all round HUGS Pat in Maine. xoxoxo emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon

DD birthday today!

Friday, October 14, 2011

I cannot believe it has been thirty years since I received the gift of my DD! In less than four hours, it will be thus. The joy, pride and all the things that go with being a mom, single parent, etc are treasures to me. Although we are hanging around at the parents house while the new boiler is installed, her birthday is another year of love and joyful life with her. I am so blessed.
We do not make a big fuss on birthdays, but do treat each other to lunch or dinner. NO cards or parties. Her choice when she got older,, she did have parties as a child and had lots of friends and relatives invited. In another country, it is called "Name Day". We two are frill-free...

LINDA MY Birthday was the thirteenth is DD on the fourteenth?.
I did not have birthday as a child I had an older cousin and I had to share hers. She was 5 years older than I and so the games were just awful.
I survived it though. With three sons spread far and wide I do not do much about the days, A Spark friend and I had planned to take e day out together with our DH weeks ago and we ended up deciding to get together at her house in Southern Maine. I had a great time despite I was not feeling well. She was not either so we all decided to do it anyway. I had a ball and loved my birthday. HUGS Pat in Maine. emoticon emoticon

Spent the day at parents house getting boiler installation started.. They removed the old boiler, bled the water lines, hauled the new boiler up five stairs to the back porch, then down 13 basement stairs and around the bend into the laundry area. A LOT of copper pipes down there too!! Dan also got the three new thermostats installed.
I did some laundry, picked around the house without even opening a drawer, and filled a huge box, two big bags with knick knacks, bowls, vases, tacky stuff for garage sale.. Washed a lot of statues, anything glass or dusty(basically everything) and covered it all and placed it on the sun porch for later. Shredded piles of bills and other papers, emptied trash.
The installation should be finished by Monday. Dan had to work alone today before lunch since his helper called in sick. I am so relieved that this will be another thing finished in parents home.
Spent most of the last two days printing and signing affidavits for police and credit card company:somebody in Tennessee randomly got my credit card numbers and used them,, now I have to be issued a new card.. Thank goodness I do not have to pay anything,,
what a PIA!!!

Are you kidding? Merry maids,, none around here, cannot afford it, AND it would take them a few years to go through everything,, IT took us 5 hours to clear out two drawers!! The kitchen alone will probably take a week or two.. just emptying it out and packing things,, no cleaning or moving furniture.

Good lord, friend you are busy. Didn't Moms ever clean her home? I ahve to remind myself she is elderly but you and your DD work so flipping hard there. You need to call Merry Maids. Maybe they can complete it in 9 months time.

Click on my photos doo-hickey and see the Frankenmuth photos! The building is larger than one and a half football fields! Has over 350 decorated trees on display. If you go to their website, you can see how huge this is. I would use a couple memory cards to get everything on my camera! Please enlarge the photos to see the detail,,
I wish you could see them as a slideshow, full page is best! We enjoy seeing everything there! We usually do not even buy anything, just look and walk!! You cannot be sad or angry here,, the whole town!! These are only three of about thirty pics in my photos gallery from here and in Frankenmuth itself!
