one long year

Wednesday, September 21, 2011

Our dear beloved furbaby, Pooky Bear has been gone from us a year already. We still look for her in the window when arriving home, walk around the spot where her bed was,,, still cannot bear to look at other dogs for more than a second..

It is hard to believe it has been that long and yet you have dome so much in this past year when think about it,. The House, Mom and so much more you have really accomplished a lot.

I hope your hand is less painful now.
I know thinking of POOKIE is sad but remember the good times you had with him.

I'm sorry to hear about your loss. My parents have just recently put down their dog a couple of weeks ago. Dakota was a just about 15 or 16 years old. I brought her up from North Carolina to New Jersey and showed her to my mom at work. She was an awesome dog and a much cherished part of the family. My own dog, Coby, is just now about 5 years old and we are noticing how he's aged in that short time. Stay strong and share in the memories and the happiness that was shared.

We had to have the pool guys close the pool again this year. Neither of us can handle it any more so we budget to get it done. It is not an inexpensive job and DH and I do all of the prep work and chemicals bit the bill was still over $200, closer to double that when we had to buy new least expensive cover and the extra chemicals they put in. I hope they got all of the water out of the lines, Glad you know what you are doing with it. HUGS LINDA, I hope the pain has eased since sutures are out. Take care. Lots of paperwork/. HUGS from Maine. emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon

It's okay to let them close the pool. You don't have to do everything yourself to prove that you're ok. This time of year is tough on us, so sort out the meds issue and keep stretching now that you can't swim. emoticon

more pain

Monday, September 19, 2011

For some reason I am in more pain now than immediately post-op. Vicodin works like chewing gum: nothing. Using my tramadol for the pain,, takes about 2% of the top of the pain away,, tomorrow is suture-removal day,, I wonder if I am just being a big baby or just really underestimated the pain level this surgery entailed. One thing I am not, is a person that is too shy to ask a anyone a question who is performing a service for me. This neurosurgeon has been telling me he wants an MRI to see the extent of my spinal damage, other parts.. The rheumatologist suggested the same thing,, SInce it would be out-of-pocket for me, I have said no for over a year.. wondering...

One thing I HAVE noticed since surgery is:I CAN SLEEP ON MY RIGHT SIDE!!!!!! No pain, numbness, electrical shocks, throbbing or hot, stabbing pains on my right side. For some reason I did not ask enough questions pre-op about things that I would feel later. Usually I am extremely thorough about these things, carrying a notepad, research questions etc to an appointment... never again.. tomorrow I will be prepared...
I am just so blessed to have been able to have this surgery, regardless of losing six weeks income.

Sending all good thoughts that your pain levels drop to tolerable! I've found that different pain meds work better for different things -- Vicodan (actually Norco) doesn't even touch my arthritis pain when I have a flare up, but Tramadol does help somewhat. I know the economics are daunting, but I sure think getting an MRI would be helpful!

Sending lots of love & white light to you!

Hope things go well at your appointment today. Hope you get some relief from the pain that you are experiencing. Try cutting back on sugar or caffeine if you do either or both of these as they stimulate the nerve endings which cause you to feel more pain.

I'm glad that the apin on your side is gone and the numbness. that is a big plus for you.

when I ahve had surgery (2 on right foot, cochlear implant, band) All fo the surgeons except the CI surgeon kept in close contact by phone and/or by emails. I write my band surgeon often with questions. It's good to know. I also have her in clsoe contact on Facebook giving her great raves and reviews.

Hope things go well for you tomorrow. I'll be praying.

Surgeries and pains are unknowns as far as I am concerned. We just can't desribe or abscribe them to anything but how our fickle body reacts. I pray that your pain levels decrease quickly and that your doctors treat you with respect.

Now that juice sounds good that you got. I'm really not much of a juice drinker because it tends to bring my sugars up. Unless my sugars are low it's always good. real fruit is better. Now if i make a good smoothie... that's different. I agree with you about the flu shots. About October 5th I'll be getting mine maybe clsoer to end. We're trying tog et ashley on my insurance plan and my Dr. and we would get the flu shot together.
Have a nice day.

yup!!I also have a recipe for green tomato jam,, uses green tomatoes, raspberry jello,, very easy and it tastes EXACTLY like real raspberries, looks like it too!! Freezer jam...
I have not made it since being diagnosed, but I am sure sugar free jello would work the same..
