Today is planting some veggies and working on our berry patches. Bought huge bags of soil yesterday, got a very tall shepherds hook to hang a tomato planter, mowed Mom's lawn,, that is three acres, so takes awhile, but easier to do than ours.

I got a pleasant surprise yesterday: Drew, my friend's son who is graduating next weekend, stopped in and gave me two tickets to his LAST play in high school, "Into the Woods". HE plays in it but is also the narrator. His long-term goal is to be an actor/director and do every aspect of a play/movie. HE has been in every play in his high school since he got there, sang, danced, props, etc. Starred in lots of them. He has been totally focused on THAT career, nothing else since he was in fifth grade, so I know he will be UP there in the future. College is in his plan first of course,, he has been accepted in around twelve of them all free-ride scholarships, has 4.09 GPA.

The play is three hours long, so I will be enjoying his play this afternoon!!

Now I must say that is commitment. No wavering on his part! Hope the play was good and that you got to relax a bit.

Sharon, you would have to be here to get the whiff of the odor.. Two boys were walking down the railroad tracks yesterday and were gagging, swearing and running with their hands over their faces while we were dumping those leaves! Today, one of those same boys returned and shook his head and put his hands over his face again,,

today I wowed the lawn, we got the pump, skimmer, and hoses hooked up, DD cleaned teh pool cover off and hung it to dry on teh clothesline..

Still lots of work to do, get some plants for the yard, mow moms grass, etc,, I have almost fifteen hours put in today and it is not dinner time yet.. I am going to rest..

Debbieanne it is an above ground pool four feet deep n teh sides, with a 7 1/2' deep end in teh middle. 24' round..

finally opening our pool!

Thursday, June 02, 2011

With floods, tornadoes, work and business, then DD was ill for a few days, so we got the pool cover off after about three hours of pumping skanky, slimy, composty water off, then bailing huge buckets of those same leaves and corpse-smelling water , off the cover,,
DD let the garden hose in it to get the water line higher up, but we are too whipped out to hook everything up today, ,tomorrow after I get home from work we can hook everything up and test water, stow everything for summer,,

even after scrubbing and showering, I can still smell that poo-compost water smell on my hands,, GROSS...
going to go douse myself in my "Design" by Paul Sebastian,, that is such a lovely fragrance and will cover it up.. emoticon emoticon

We will have to hire the pool guy. DH hip and foot are sore and I cannot handle it myself. They brought the pump inside this year its the first time they did that they usually cover it . It is heavy to lug up from the basement.

We have such a high water table the liner is badly creased. They suggested emptying and refilling but it is an in-ground 18 by 36 and 9 feet deep end, so that is a lot of water.

I would love to stock it with trout. !!!!!

Glad you are getting it all done. We are still way too cold for playing with water plus high winds that are from Canada so the winds too are cold. HUGS LINDA Pat in Maine. emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon

Definitely time to take the snow picture off your page, Linda! emoticon
Baking soda or lemon juice might have worked for the odor, too.
Hope you are having a good week!

LUCKY you we never open the pool till our neighbours Maple trees have lost their spinners.
We will be lucky if it's open by the fourth of July.

Despite it being in full sun it is NEVER warm enough for me.

I just like it looking clean. HUGS LINDA Pat in Maine. emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon
