We sure DO have our own pool, but usually we cannot open it until Memorial weekend or after since it is cold and rainy here on the Great Lakes. The water has warmed up to 68 today ,, five degrees overnight,, it is only 84 today, but we love diving in and seeing the steam roll off our bodies!! LOL!
Pools are lots of work, if you have one you realize that.. but it feels so good to float around and do water aerobics all summer,, we have had our pool since 1989 and do all the work ourselves.. soemtimes my ex hubby will help close the pool, I have everythign doe except putting the cover on when he arrives, so it is not so hard for him, he will also help change the silica too..
I dreamed of having a pool all my life and when we finally got it, my hubby thought we would tire of it, but we are fish, cannot get enough of it!! My other dream is to retire on the beach...

I would love to have my own pool, but I do live on one of the most beautiful lakes in the world! :) Google it!!
Flathead Lake - Polson Montana!!!

I'll have to come swim in your pool sometime though... I bet it stays hotter where you live. I only get to enjoy the lake for MAYBE 2 months and then it's too cold again!!

We had a pool, too, when we were with my ex husband. I designed it and picked out the colors and tile, etc. We used a Ray Vac when we were not in it. It kept it faily clean.

Well, well, well... If I took a picture of my kitchen right now you would see that it is kept spotless clean. but... All the food stuff that I eat like oatmeal, cereals, tea's, etc are all left out on the counter top. I can't reach any of the cabinets. At 4'11".

Yeppers. A great difference and I bet you are just tickled to death with your new kitchen.

Great Spark Day here!

Sunday, April 25, 2010

Yesterday we had a spark get -together near our home. Most people could not make it, but we did meet with a new member, had a great hike in the woods with him, lunch at a "50's" diner, great conversation, lots of laughs and enjoyment of new friends.

A slight sprinkle during our walk, but the trees masked it. Sure did get some cardio and steps in, could have walked more, but the damp air triggered asthma, but another time...

We enjoyed meeting our newest member of our Saginaw, Michigan team, heard lots of great stories, shared stories...

Pooky survived surgery!

Friday, February 26, 2010

We picked her up at five p.m. ysterday.. She made it through the anesthtic fairly well. What I did NOT anticipate was how many of her teeth the vet would pull!
She now has ELEVEN LESS teeth!!!!!!!!
The doctor told us that when he just touched her teeth with a probe, copious amounts of green pus just shot all over the place. The poor baby had all that poison in her for at least a year. We were very hesitant to even do the surgery due to her advanced age, so hoped that the antibiotics would do their job over the course of time. All of her upper teeth on both sides ar enow gone,, most of them had either all dead roots or just one live on left. He also said this is very common in cats and dogs, but they usually do not live long enough for it to continue to get worse.

HE also said that she is one of the worst cases he has ever seen, not THE worst, but right up there in the top five.

She has no stitches so the pus can drain out, which means she is swallowing that too. but with her pain pills and mega-antibiotics, she will heal nicely. She took some chopped poached egg in boiled rice for breakfast, I gave her a packet of moist doggie food in boiled rice for lunch. We will just open her mouth long enough to shoot her pills to the back of her throat until she heals.
I am just grateful that she is here with us and less wobbly on her feet today. GOD IS GOOD!

Pooky Bear

Saturday, February 20, 2010

My doggie's name is Pooky Bear(we did not name her),, she is a beautiful mutt; part German Shepherd, part hound.. you can see her pic on my daughter's sparkpage(tweetykc)
She weighed 55 pounds when she was eating..
She was four years old when we rescued her eleven years ago from a home where they only fed her a cup of food a day, kept her in a basement of an old house all day until they came home from work, then let her out to toilet on a muddy, hard-packed dirt postage stamp yard.

We do know that somebody tortured her with newspapers and the vacuum.. also big spoons or sticks.. it took a long time before we could cook or read the paper with her in the house!!
When we rescued her, she only weighed 40 pounds, was covered in fleas, ticks, mud, her fur was matted, she was shedding huge clumps of it. She has asthma attacks or something like it.. when excited..

Within one month of rescuing her, we got her weight up to 55 pounds, bathed her, got vet meds and checkups. She had never stepped on grass, so when we took her home and she stepped off the deck onto the lawn, she jumped right back up on the deck!!
I cried..

Now, she has three cushy beds, more treats and snacks than us, drinks only Brita filtered water, takes my glucosamine, also was taking pet vitamins, now takes gingko biloba for doggie dementia, her ephedrine(it is a controlled substance, so must be handpacked into capsules by a pharmacist near here, shipped to my vet, signed for, then I pick it up, every month) for her inability to stop urinating, (she was born with that)benedryl, penicillin,..

we have a huge fenced in back yard, she gets walked regularly, goes to the groomer and gets her mani-pedi's,massages, baths, brushings, ear check.
She has lost a lotr of weight in the past few months due to these rotted teeth( I had the vet clean her teeth a few years ago) and poison is in her system..
she is now 15 years old,, she could die while under general anesthesia, but her life is about shot right now,,

I am going to go cook some venison and boiled rice for her to keep her going until surgery.. thanks for you prayers....
