People always ask me if I went to visit my mother,, how the heck can I? I spend about two to three hours a day after my job, just on the phone, filling out paperwork and running errands for her things,,
still trying to flesh out Dads veterans record papers to send in.. insurance companies, credit card phone calls, making her income tax appointment,, going to do that on my day off..
have calls in to the American Legion commander, veterans recovery office, car insurance, two credit card companies, making copies of everything,, searching for old paperwork of dad's..

I think a great job for government workers should be planting trees, to make up for all the paper they waste in copies!!

WOW! The government really knows how to keep people busy-by flooding them with time consuming crap like that to do! Oh well, it has to be done I guess.

Linda, it is good thing you are so diligent. Just think how many other people get ripped off because they do not notice these auto deduction things. The banks just keep hauling money from your account just because they are given a blank voided check and your permission. I am thinking there has to be a better way to do all of this. Such bureaucracy. HUGS Pat in Maine.
Linda do try to find some me time. HUGS . emoticon emoticon

I think the gov't runs a lot like a law firm I ran into in I think it was '96. I used to audit law firms and I recall telling this firm, which was hip-deep in paper copies of everything -- get a scanner and start making this stuff electronic. And they looked at me like I had three heads (and continued to complain about how expensive storage was, and that scanning would take forever, boo hoo, and also that they couldn't find anything).

And here we are, fifteen years later, and it's the same old, same old. I suspect some enterprising folk could get lovely summer jobs just scanning, sorting and indexing govt paperwork.

It's amazing how governments like this paper work last week i had 4 letters from social security all asking the same question all to the same department yet when i rang them they said i had to fill in and send them all in as they were for seperate sections.Try not to overdo things you'll only hope paperwork soon sortedwear yourself out make a bit of me time.a nice warm bath or curl up half hour early with a book or music. emoticon

tired of paperwork

Monday, March 07, 2011

thought I had insurance company from moms accident all cleared away: since she totalled the car, she does not need car insurance, right? They still are taking a lot of $$ out of her credit union account. had to get on show with them then found out all I had to do was drive a mile to a branch office and give them copy of my DPOA for her, let them tappity tap their fingers to cancel it out and fix it so they send me a check for the four months they took her money!! Then went to credit union, handed them some paper work, then took some personal care items to mom at assisted living, played Wii bowling with old gals..
first time I ever saw Wii..
back home to eat, and am exhausted,, the days are too short, but so are the weekends when I don't work..
suppose dto ge tmore snow and sleet tomorrow night,, YIPPEE!!

It does seem odd that computers can always take money out of accounts and it seems it has a much more difficult time with getting money back in to accounts.

Good for you Linda to keep on top of all of these things for your Mother. It sounds like you are having to9 double check everything.
I sure do hope the mediccations are beginning to work on your Pain Issuses. HUGS. Pat in Maine. emoticon emoticon emoticon

spent all of yesterday with bride and groom, researching table decorations and munchies, bought two vases for our bouquets on the cake table..
we got two more inches of snow over the sleet, so it was very windy and wet, cold,,
I am still trying to fill my kitchen cabinets, but mom, work, pain and wedding get in the way,, did some cleaning while waiting for them to come and we shopped in two cities...
I took my pain pill when I woke up in the middle of the night and it really let me sleep for a change!! Cannot do it that way during the week, will try to go back to taking it with other meds.. LIFE IS A JOB!!!!!!!!

Dad's birthday

Friday, March 04, 2011

today Dad would hav eben 84 years old,, I do not dwell on it, just fondly remember him,, he died six days after his 73rd one,,
His new life will go by more slowly,eternity... so glad he was in my life too..

I am bone tired today,, this past week has been extremely hard on me at work. With all the medication changes adn additions, more hours at work, and added stressors about mom,, and my mortality, I feel overwhelmed and know I need to get away,, I want to rent a cottage in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, on Lake Superior or one of the lesser lakes near Paradise, Michigan,, I am familiar with it all, but will be going alone if I do it.. got tos ee if I can afford to do it first,,
DD does not want to go relax with a book on the beach, laze away the days, she is a homebody,,
still debating if I want to do it and drive to Connie's home in Munising for a couple days too.. I know the whole norhtern part of the state like the abck of myhand and have been across teh Mackinac Bridge as many times as I have been in my own driveway,, so I am really considering the trip,, 7 hours north, no big deal,, then another few hours to browse the sights during the week.. so tempting..
I know I will not live long enogh to ever retire up there as I planned, so this may be my only alternative..

I know what you mean about hearing a 'call' from a faraway place: I was born in upstate NY, and while I would not any longer want to face the winters there, summertime will see me waxing nostalgic...

If you want my two cents' worth, go. Go while you have the inclination and the opportunity. Time spent alone can be richer and more rewarding than time spent in the company of others. Thinks me.

Sounds like a great Plan for you to do. None of us are getting any younger. I dreamed of travel but DH did not, he is like your DD a real home body unless I make all of the plans and afterwards he has a great time. It was easy when I was earning money with my very small business. Now with no real income I do not dare to plan or spend. I agree it's a hard decision to make. Hugs Pat in Maine.
I really hope emoticonPat.
