4 NO's Wednesday

Wednesday, August 14, 2013

Just finsihed researching dining places.. there is a hole-in-the-wall place in Paradise called Browns fisheries.. they catch the fish in the morning(whitefish, perch, lake trout and walleye or salmon) by 9 AM, clean them open teh doors at noon until teh fish is gone. Any fish leftover, is made into chowder or smoked for the next day..never served as fresh the next day!! Ilove fresh water fish, not seafood or ocean fish of any kind. Gotta try this place.

googled maps to certain places and wrote down coordinates for GPS driving.
One more day at the oars and I will be free for ten days! R & R here I come!

I think you will remain busy on your trip. But i think you'll relax a little. the fish sounds good but i have heard lake fish is not healthy.

Sounds great. I guess they couldn't build a fire by the fishing hole, take a big ole skillet, and cook em up right there. That's about the only way to get them fresher. :)

4 NO's tuesday

Anotehr beautiful day here. having some issues with co-workers, but one of them will be gone when I return from vacation. He is one of he main sticklers for me, so things may settle down and make another co-worker be treated equally, not favored.

Hope your work environment improves. It's hard to change a corporate culture all by yourself.

Fortunately, what happens at the office can stay at the office, not go on vacation with you.

4 NO's Sunday

Sunday, August 11, 2013

DD and I walked through the state park yesterday,, while she was snapping pics of the family of swans, three cygnets and the parents, I looked across the lagoon and saw a doe and her two fawns, just out of spots. Strolling along about 60 yards from us I tried to get DD attention, but I am not sure if she got the camera in position in time.
In the past month, the water levels are so low, there is no water flowing from the weir that connects the marsh, which is a higher elevation, to the lagoon which is a huge pond that flows into Lake Huron.

We then went to the library book sale of hundreds of thousands of used books. It was the last day of the sale at the ice arena, so they were very inexpensive!! $3.00/box,, a huge banana box!!!!!!
I got lots of random books, but my two prizes are an Erma Bombeck hardcover that I have never read(the only one I have not read) and a Clive Cussler hardcover.
DD bought about eight or ten, I did not count, but would guesstimate about30, plus hers for $6.00!
One year I found some very old Operetta song books from the turn of the century. I believe they are from an Opera House that stood on the banks of the river here in the 19th century. I paid $.20 each for them.

4 NO's Saturday B4 vacation

Saturday, August 10, 2013

Rose and shone early,, lots to do today: We will be walking at the marsh when they open the park gates at 8, then to the ice arena for the library book sale, then on to the store to pick up last minute stuff to pack.
back home to clean windows and start my clothing packing. We already packed the non-perishables last night and checked them off our main list. yes, I remembered the can opener, even though the cabins provide them I have a kitchen-aid one ,,it is getting very hard to use that anymore though.. I can hardly turn the handle,, may have to break down and get an electric one to use when DD is not home. I never thought I would be this bad at this age.. was hoping to be further down the old lady chart...

Definitely get an electric can opener. When you use a pickax the food tends to fly all over.

Have a wonderful walk.
