4 NO's tuesday

Tuesday, August 13, 2013

Anotehr beautiful day here. having some issues with co-workers, but one of them will be gone when I return from vacation. He is one of he main sticklers for me, so things may settle down and make another co-worker be treated equally, not favored.

Hope your work environment improves. It's hard to change a corporate culture all by yourself.

Fortunately, what happens at the office can stay at the office, not go on vacation with you.

4 NO's Sunday

Sunday, August 11, 2013

DD and I walked through the state park yesterday,, while she was snapping pics of the family of swans, three cygnets and the parents, I looked across the lagoon and saw a doe and her two fawns, just out of spots. Strolling along about 60 yards from us I tried to get DD attention, but I am not sure if she got the camera in position in time.
In the past month, the water levels are so low, there is no water flowing from the weir that connects the marsh, which is a higher elevation, to the lagoon which is a huge pond that flows into Lake Huron.

We then went to the library book sale of hundreds of thousands of used books. It was the last day of the sale at the ice arena, so they were very inexpensive!! $3.00/box,, a huge banana box!!!!!!
I got lots of random books, but my two prizes are an Erma Bombeck hardcover that I have never read(the only one I have not read) and a Clive Cussler hardcover.
DD bought about eight or ten, I did not count, but would guesstimate about30, plus hers for $6.00!
One year I found some very old Operetta song books from the turn of the century. I believe they are from an Opera House that stood on the banks of the river here in the 19th century. I paid $.20 each for them.

4 NO's Saturday B4 vacation

Saturday, August 10, 2013

Rose and shone early,, lots to do today: We will be walking at the marsh when they open the park gates at 8, then to the ice arena for the library book sale, then on to the store to pick up last minute stuff to pack.
back home to clean windows and start my clothing packing. We already packed the non-perishables last night and checked them off our main list. yes, I remembered the can opener, even though the cabins provide them I have a kitchen-aid one ,,it is getting very hard to use that anymore though.. I can hardly turn the handle,, may have to break down and get an electric one to use when DD is not home. I never thought I would be this bad at this age.. was hoping to be further down the old lady chart...

Definitely get an electric can opener. When you use a pickax the food tends to fly all over.

Have a wonderful walk.

4 NO's I lived through today!

Friday, August 09, 2013

Why is Friday the longest day of the work week and the weekends the shortest days? Four more working days and I can relax.

It is against the law to bring firewood from the Lower Peninsula to the Upper Peninsula , due to ash-borers here in Michigan, so we will collect some while we are huckleberry picking up there..
Got our red hot/marshie roaster forks packed for s'mores and campfire weenies too!

Got our floater rafts ready and DD found the marine rope to tie them together and add land lines to tie to buoys in the lakes so we do not float to Canada across the lake!!

Well, what's the big deal about floating across the lake? You will always float back (or walk)

Wish I could eat roasted marshmallows but i have Diabetes to worry about.. Wonders if there is sugar free marshmallows? I haven't seen them.
