4 NO's Saturday

Saturday, August 03, 2013

Two weks from now we will be sitting on the beach of Lake Superior in Paradise,Michigan, watching the sunrise, sipping our coffee. In our jammies. DD and I discussed different things we want to tweak in our list, but preparing the two houses for vacation time is something we have down to a science.
We have indoor shut-offs for power and water to initiate, turning off water supply hoses to washers, turning down temp on water heater, lawn mowing, berry harvesting, mail retieval bags to dear neighbors, etc.

I am looking forward to DD driving this year so I can actually SEE the views and watch the wonderful sight at the top of the Mackinac Bridge when we cross it. The ships look so tiny from there,,,
we will actually be seeing some of the same ships when we go to the Soo Locks in Sault (pronounced Soo) Ste, Marie,Michigan.

How lovely! We used to go to Lake Erie every year as a kid. I wanted to take my kids this year for a week... or a least a few days, but my word, it's expensive! I was hoping to be able to rent the house where we went as a kid, because it's owned by a friend of my dad's, but apparently he lives there in the summer, so that's out.

Enjoy your time off and time with your DD. It sounds like so much fun!

4 NO's day off

Friday, August 02, 2013

Have lots ofplans for today a day off from work,,well, my PAID work..
credit union, grocery, spring clean one room(I think it is going to be my bedroom), clean storm debris on driveway and call Consumers to replace streetlight near our house..

I took a whole pain pill last night, slept well, but know I will have to avoid chairs today or it will be a six hour nap in one of them,, hopping on the treadmill will help.

Your days off and still busy. Hope your pain is subdued.
There are not hunters in the areas we were. There are Coyotes, but there would have to be a big gang of them to get a lot of birds. I'm going to take Sarge for a ride tomorrow and see if the birds came back. Maybe it was rest time. It was just odd. Have a good Saturday!

4 NO's thursday

It is so busy at work lately, I am glad that I am finally home.. Watched TV through my eyelids and just woke up ..
I have been reading about a lot of traumatic events in other Sparkers lives here lately. I pray for them and the medical teams that are treating them, the family members helping them get through a tough spot or just a pat on the back to let them know they are not alone.
This community makes one humble when they feel sorry for their place in life at the moment. I believe that this Spark family is a cohesive team effort to change one's thinking about how or why they are where they are in their life.

Not "Why me?" but "Why NOT me?" Why do I think I am so special that nothing bad should happen in my life? I seem to go along and forget certain people or things that have been helpful to me along the way. Those things are planned to be there for me, and I need to remind myself constantly, that I have a job to turn around and see who is in need of something FROM me, not FOR me.

Dd informed me that she is already packed for vacation.. except for her out clothing!! She tries to act nonchalant but two weeks ahead is not nonchalant!! I have not even brought my luggage up from the basement yet!

Grilled chicken fajitas via DD for dinner, with corn on the cob(peaches and cream) watermelon for additional salad produce.
so happy I got more cardio time in today plus my steps.

Great day off: took DVD to Kathy, went to visit mom for an hour or so.. she is healthier than I am.. informed them of cell phone number to reach us on vacation Aug 16-23.
DD said she would post pics of our berries last night.

When I freeze them I NEVER, ever wash them ,, it makes them soggy when thawed. If not washed, they will come out like just-picked. I use my trusty vinegar water to rinse produce that I do not freeze though.

We should have our winter supply of huckleberries when we return from vacation too.. We are pumped to pick them, also prepared to fend off bears or moose that we may encounter in the forest.
