4 NO's..

Friday, July 19, 2013

I guess I actually had slight heat stroke Wednesday,, high temp too with the other symptoms..
I informed boss today when I arrived at work, that I would be getting drinks every half hour or more,, no argument..
Turns out, we had lots of people in there today, so I finished work and came home.. they wanted me to stay another 3 1/2 hours, but another 95 degree day today. I drove home and actually had the A/C on, came into the A/C house and DD made a flax/ice/banana/strawberry/pomegranate smoothie ready for me.

I hope others are staying hydrated and not working so hard until it is too late..
lesson learned..

It is so easy to do in this heat...I have had to MAKE myself come in some days out of the heat...I understand it can come on quickly.

Have a great weekend!

Glad you're taking good care of yourself. It sounds almost as if there's no A/C where you work. If not, that's gotta be tough in this hot spell.

Looks like it'll be cooling off soon. Have a great weekend.

When people tell me 'stay cool', I respond, 'I can't do the impossible but I will stay hydrated'.

4 NO's ongoing..

Thursday, July 18, 2013

I am feeling better today.. made sure I had some sodium included with all of the green iced tea and juice I drank yesterday. the disorientation, faintness and nausea/vomiting abated later in the afternoon. DD watered the berries, I was not going to go out again except when we drove to my workplace to get my car home.

This morning I was up early, wrote out checks for more bills, go them in the mailbox, picked some raspberries, watered again, pulled a huge pile of weeds and hauled them to the fence, filled the birdbath. This was at 7 am.. I was covered in sweat, came indoors to cool down and put the berries in the freezer.
I also just put a whole chicken in the large crockpot on the deck. Dinner for later with some steamed rice and salad.
I cannot do any more outdoors work today. Forecast is 91 degrees. Yesterday was forecast 92, it hit 95. Humidity is 100% and holding there 24 hours. low of 82 at night..

Umph. Good plan. No more heat exhaustion. I think we get more susceptible as we get older. Anyway, I know that ooollldd riding mower I was using today overheated 3x! :)

4 NO's

Wednesday, July 17, 2013

Had to have DD pick me up from work after only two hours: I know now it was heat stroke. I was barfing, nauseated, sweating copiously and THIS close to fainting. I could barely stand up alone.. tried to fall on my bed and just cool down and let my stomach settle, but that made me feel worse,, got up, took some pepto tabs and sat in chair ,, That made my stomach feel better, but my whole body feels like a wrung out dishcloth.. I feel weak and totally exhausted.

This 100% humidity and high 90's temps is nothing to take lightly. Made some more green tea and sipping that for more hydration...

Ugh. Sounds pretty rough. There's got to be some good way to keep cooler. I like that Chilly pad idea.

I hope you feel better soon.

Have you ever bought a Chilly pad? it's a cool towel that you keep on your neck it stays ice cold after you wet it. It was a life saver when i was paddling on the boats.Walmart and drg stores sell them.

Hope you feel better tomorrow. My grandchildren and daughter have both been ill because of the heat. All I do is moan all day. I am retired but it must be awful when you have to go to work. I am sure you don't need any advice from me- but keep drinking the water.

4 NO's day off

Tuesday, July 16, 2013

Rise and shine to water the berries before dawn and get to Walgreens and bank when they open at 8.
I was upset when I got an extra day off , but now that there is a heat index danger out, I am glad I can get things done outdoors early and soak up some cool air indoors, keeping busy doing things there. REALLY missing our pool this summer.. last year was not this hot and humid.

We got out early today, too, since it's supposed to be more of the same heat.

Thanks also for your comment on my blog the other day. You had really great ideas about squeezing in exercise and balancing it with work and the kids. Thanks for taking the time to share these awesome ideas!

4 NO's and a scorcher!!

Monday, July 15, 2013

They predict 90's and creeping towards 100 degrees today.. and tomorrow, ,,

DD did not vac the carpets for me yesterday, did today while I was at work, so I will steam clean them at daybreak tomorrow, then ff to the drugstore and water my plants.
Also want to try out one of my two new sprayers: I bout two one-gallon hand sprayers so I can have one for plants and one for waterproofing my deck. I had to deep six the bigger one this year after doing the deck,,it gummed up and would not spray...
I got a recipe from AARP on cheap natural weed killer: 1 gallon distilled white vinegar and two T dish soap. I know that won't clog anything!!

That vinegar week killer recipe has been going around for quite some time. I trashed anything to do with AARP. OMG they gave my phone number, address and email address out to almost every company in USA. this is why i stopped Comcast phone service and Got OOma for jsut $3.00 or $4.00 per month. I can control who calls me and block. Comcast didn't allow it.
