Tall Ships in our Saginaw Bay!

Thursday, July 11, 2013

The tall ships come to Bay City every year, but this year, Bay City is the only place in MIchigan they will all be together,,TEN OF THEM!!
DD and I found a bridge that was not opened, so we got across to the other side of the river to visit mom on her 87 BD. Three of the ships were in the river, docked by 4 p.m. all ten will be there tomorrow. coming from all over.

My dad took us all over the state when we were growing up, we saw tall ships, Chinese Junks, etc back in the 50's and 60's. There are thousands of people on the bridges taking pictures, lining up for tours.
there are going to be concerts, dinner boat rides on local paddlewheel boats, etc. I have been on one of them, they are fun.. if you did not know where you were, in the dark, you could be gliding down the Seine.. glittering lights, a band playing on the upper deck, buffet dinner, dancing! All for the big price of $25 for a three hour fun time!!

I have to work later tomorrow, then we will be meeting other Sparkers in Frankenmuth,MI.. German bands, comedians, carriage rides with draft horses, wine sampling in the basement of Zehnders!! We sample our way through there, then cross the street and do the same at the Bavarian Inn!

I look forward to relaxing after lots of walking. Fresh bobka, sample beers at the Brewery (they even have my favorite, homemade root beer!).
We love walking around, people watching!! (While they are watching us.)

Going into work later this morning,, weird to do that. but a short day. I got some great rest,, I dread even opening a door to leave:the steam is shooting off the wet pavement after the thunderstorms,,I sleep right through them every time.. My best rest is during a thunderstorm!

It was so humid and hot yesterday, I was so tempted to get food brought in,,but I instead, made a nice chefs salad with local veggies. It was cool filling and tasty!

Tomorrow is mom's 87 birthday, we will be visiting her after work.

Today is SUPPOSED to be our last day of rain (broke the 1928 record) and high humidity. I'm so ready for lower humidity!
Happy Birthday to your Mom.

My pain is mostly fibro now,, just touching the tops of my shoulders or hips is like somebody slammed a hammer into the bones!! THAT is fibro. the arthritis pain is so much less, I have been enduring the pain of arthritis since age 21. It is just something I refuse to let stop my routines. The bomb dropped of fibro just kind of pushed me against the wall and told me , "yes, you will submit to the pain if I make it bad enough".
Fibromyalgia is a whole new dimension of body pain. it is not like an acute sudden pain like a headache or cut or slap. It is a deep, sharp, dull, thudding pain that sticks a big jolt of electricity into the points and tissues,,
I have tried epsom salts, massage, meds, TM.. I do wish I could afford accupuncture.. I would be a pincushion for anybody instantly if I had the $$$.

Today I had a very easy day at work.. For the first time ever in 23 years, I got to sit still for two whole hours when I first arrived. The rest was craziness, but I went home early and was glad to leave,, it is so hot and humid,, still at 89%,, pure thick fog this morning.. so that does not help the old body. I have been meditating to relax just so I can use the bands for stretching. The pain on my knuckles is agony, but I know I need the workout..

I have been freezing fruits and veggies for winter.. I have made all the preserves I will make for the year,, now just wait for our blackberries and raspberries to ripen. they go until late fall. so we get a few here and there and make smoothies with them...

I still want to freeze some string beans...

It has been shown that by denying a healthy individual sleep for 72 hr, y9u can cause fibro pain. Thus, IMHO, appropriate sleep (not sleeping pills), in which a person gets REM sleep on a regular basis, would aid in decreasing the pain. I have proven this with myself as I HAD suffered from fibro in the past. That is one of the reasons I got rid of the alarm clock. If I take care of getting to bed on time, I wake up naturally on time.

4NO's Monday

Monday, July 08, 2013

My dear friend lives about seven hours from Paradise, where we will be vacationing. Her hubby is also going to the fire station to order their meds online.

I deliberately bought my laptop to take on vacation,, also to University of Michigan when DD get s very ill and I have to transport her there. Free Wifi is the greatest perk!! Even up in the U.P, motels and cabins have it a lot now, mostly because THEY use it all year round due to their remote location. I remember when we were little, NO restaurant, hotel, motel, or cabins had air conditioning in the U.P. It was just something NOBODY had,,only movie theaters!!

I continue to have that darned flare-up. The continuous shooting pains in every knuckle of my toes and fingers is horrible.. I had to work today too.. Tomorrow will be a short day,, so I can come home and put my hands in a paraffin bath. That is a wonderful thing to help ease the pain too.

Do you juice at home? Fresh veggies and fruits in a juicer? Ashley told me the reason why she is so into ginger and juicing these days is because the ginger has taken arthritis pain and inflammation off her feet and elbows. It's worth a try. Personally I don't care for the taste but if it makes me feel better I'd drink it.

4NO's Sunday

Sunday, July 07, 2013

I watched some fireworks from my bedroom window and also stood out in the middle of the road last evening. I live at the end of a cul-de-sac, it was 10pm, and nobody else was home, so I saw some beautiful ones, BUT the best ones were the crowds of fireflies out in my front yard and all over the end of the street. They are out a-courting!!

I got a very long letter from a very dear friend of mine yesterday. She lives about a 40 minute drive from my home. She wrote to tell me that their PC broke down and she does not know if or when the will get another one. I instantly thought:Oh my how will I get hold of her?? Normally, I am not a techno-person, BUT she has a cell phone that she only uses for emergencies, ONLY. They have a fifth wheel that they take all over the state. She is a spur-of-the-moment person, so it is difficult enough job to locate her normally.

Her hubby is a retired firefighter and does a lot of work on the PC, so now he is going to a neighbors house and/or the library and not liking it.

I will have to call her and tell her I now have unlimited long distance.. if she is home long enough to hear her landline.. They parked their fifth wheel in Sebaiwing,MI for the season. that is another forty minutes on the opposite side of the state as my home...
I wish I could be as mobile as others..
