4 NO's fireworks finale!

Saturday, July 06, 2013

Gaby: Remember, Bay County is (Bay City specifically) is the base for mosquito spraying!! Nobody would be near the river without it!! I am in a lot of pain today,, fibro flareup.. every knuckle in every digit is in agony..I am using the hunt and peck method here.. took a tramadol, no relief.. going to get that rice bag out before the temps hit the 90's again today..

I need to make a trip to Menards and replace one of our grilling propane tanks,, get a new hand-pump sprayer for putting my vinegar in for killing weeds. Too painful to use it today, but I saw a sale and have some rebate credit there form my roof insulation Joe did a couple years ago.. DD will do the lifting..

4 NO's Friday

Friday, July 05, 2013

Thank you Doc Patricia!! I have used a tube sock years ago for my neck when a patient pulled under my arms and tore everything from cervical to coccyx! I was off work for three months and my back was never the same,, I was 21.
The sock is fantastic for that type of area, but the one Pat sent to fill and sew, is about 12' X12" with eight channels to fill with one cup rice each,, You merely baste stitch the end and tip over to check if the seam is sealed, then I went back and sewed over that with 12s/inch.

today is another hot, humid day,, the second night of fireworks here..
This town is very busy, BUT tomorrow there will be between 550,000 and 600,000 more people here. They have about seven million pounds of fireworks set up..

I am just happy to have two days off from work. Nothing short of an ambulance ride could induce me to cross the bridge to get to the east side of town this weekend.

I am sticking to my challenge fine..

4 NO's July 4th!

Thursday, July 04, 2013

Trying to keep cardio time up more this week, very humid and hot, trying to remain hydrated too.
The first of three nights of fireworks begin tonight here. Wish I could go down to the river and watch them tonight, but have to be up early for work in the morning..

Will add more time to cardio tomorrow after work, but my back is in pain this week,, going to use the rice bag I made that Sparker NorasPat gave me the pattern for.. I filled the fabric up with rice and sewed all of the channels up,, we just heat it in the microwave or cool it in the freezer and apply for any aches or pains we have! I love it,, it will help me sleep tonight on my sore back.

This is a great idea - even better than frozen peas! Of course, I don't sew, so I'll have to find an old sock, and so I can tie a knot in it! Thanks for posting this idea.

Be careful with back pain. Don't let it get too serious. Resting is essential. so take your rest days.

We bought some thread and some more fabric at Joanne's fabric shop this morning to practice sewing on my new machine and fill the bag as well and sew. Can't wait to sue mine.

An 'easier' rice pack is made from a sock.
1) Fill a sock with (uncooked) rice.
2) Tie it shut with twine, ribbon or string. If the sock is long enough, you can tie a knot in the sock.
Hopefully, this will bring up an image.

I love my "rice" pack - not sure it is actually rice but someone gave it to me and you can freeze or heat in microwave to ease pain - LOVE IT. It really helps. The weight I have lost has reduced ALL kinds of pain for me and I hope by the time I am done this process, I will be chronologically older but at least 10 years YOUNGER in how I feel.

4 NO's Wednesday!

Wednesday, July 03, 2013

A n extremely busy day at work today,, Constant cardio,, was out of breath most fo the day from actual RUNNING!!
vacation countdown is lower,, 43 days
I entered my vacation request in the book today at work.. nobody else has a request in yet for the whole month,,

I am so exhausted, It is 4:30p and I could go to bed for the evening right now...

thinking of a drear friend of mine, Gary, whose birthday is today,, he died at the ripe old age of 32 in 1985. this was a guy that I graduated high school with, taught me how to slow dance, about his Native American heritage,, a brother I wish I could have had,,

I have only happy thoughts of him,but such a sad life he had and early death.. Miss my bud.. Just a maudlin thought,,,

I am so sorry you lost a friend so young...that stays with you a LONG time. I also lost one and several in Viet Nam...at least they are not forgotten.

It's going to be hot all week...stay cool and keep looking forward to that vacation time!

Yes, we do miss our friends when they have gone on. A dear friend on Spark passed away a year or two ago and we still miss him. Other Spark friends have gone on.
All of my siblings are gone except for one brother and I. So many going home.

4NO's Tuesday

Tuesday, July 02, 2013

Very humid again today.. windows and doors closed up again,, slept with them open last night, but rain again this morning.. We are hoping our vacation time is very hot.. Lake Superior is the deepest and coldest.. where we are staying near Whitefish Point where the Edmund Fitzgerald sank, there is a long sand bar approx. 300 ft. long to swim and float around in.. it is Whitefish Bay protected by the high cliffs and trees.
DD is going to rig up our handmade huckleberry-picking apparatus to take with us for picking in the forest.. This time I am going to make plenty of noise to keep the bears AND moose away !!!
