today is a beautiful day, sunny, 65 degrees. DD went with exhub to mow dad's lawn with OUR tractor, then bring it back here, then haul dad's mower back to his house to see what the heck is wrong with that John Deere..

I have not slept the past tow nights, am going to lie down for a hopeful nap.

today is another 100% humidity day. The only time in my life I can remember this much humidity was when I was on a Caribbean cruise in October of 1976! We were within 100 miles of the equator, so when you took a shower, got out, toweled off, you never got completely dry,ever...

We swam at the beach in Grenada, Curacao, San Juan, Martinique and snorkeled in St. Thomas,, got out, toweled off, still wet.. finally figured out why natives never had towels at the beach,, just straw mats..
We grieved our pool since we lost it, but now I realize God has HIS plan.. for us to enjoy a/c indoors and hike outdoors when HE deems to lower the heat index..
I am glad I get 99% of my cardio at work.

A nice day at work, I did not have a blood sugar reaction today, BUT the humidity is still at 100% here, so I was raggedly breathing indoors, so had to use my inhaler. I probably only use it a few times a year, but most of them are at work since it is so hot there. The a/c just is not enough to help me breathe. Everybody was wilting from the heat.. It is in the 80's, but the heat index indicates over 100 degrees.

I spent all of yesterday doing laundry until bedtime last night. I cannot believe we had that much laundry to do!!!!! Today is bill paying, correspondence with foreign friends and phone calls.

The days do not stretch out enough for me..

Rainy Monday again..

Monday, June 10, 2013

Yesterday DD and I went to the fruit market on our way home from walking the State park again. The swans are not near their nest, so we think for the second year in a row, their eggs did not hatch. We did not see that little mink again, but I saw some fish, we got a pic of some birds and a painted turtle sunning itself on a chunk of wood in the marsh near the weir.

The fruit market gave up some of their asparagus and green peppers and a couple cukes for us to take home.
His prices are very high in the past couple years and I normally buy most of my produce at Aldi's , BUT this week the sale items are all imported. That is why they are so cheap. LOok great, BUT as we all know, any produce from outside the U.S is sprayed with DDT, a cancer-causing agent. The cukes were from Costa Rica, the grapes from Chile, the scallions from Mexico.

We carefully checked everything out and ended up with nice lettuce and cauliflower form the U.S. The seedless watermelons were on sale, from Texas, but my fridge is not that big!!

We love produce so much, I tend to go overboard buying it..

We had nice salads last night, today is cleaning the asparagus, radishes and "brushing" the mushrooms before making my spaghetti sauce.

We always check too for country of origin. Great luck with the farmers market. DD just told me about A Bountiful Basket program all over the states.

I like fresh produce too especially when it is local not only is it ripe but it is cheaper too.
Here in Vancouver our strawberries are appearing in our markets and you can smell
the ripeness..unlike those that are imported which unfortunately are picked before
they are ripe, so, very little flavour and quite hard.
I love the farmers markets too so much to choose from and all locally grown.Yum.. emoticon
