Too pooped to participate!

Sunday, April 28, 2013

Today is a semi-rest day before the work week begins.. did get in my 10,000 steps, 35 minutes of other cardio..
I think my fibro is flaring now, my shoulders and side of them hurt like the Dickens, even yesterday when we first got home from being up north. I lay awake most of the night blowing my nose, but pain pill knocked me out for a few hundred hours,, I forced myself to get out of bed to get my cardio in..

DD wanted to go back to the marsh after I got home from walking,, is she serious???? I think maybe Tuesday-Thursday if it is not snowing or raining or high winds..

Today I am just chilling and have a half turkey in the oven, made some delish cranberry/orange relish to go with it.. just the berries and the whole orange,, love it!!
So happy that I got our cabin confirmed for AUgust.. we are both ticking off the days until we leave.. 3 1/2 months!
We are also happy that the neighbor repaired the fence by his pool so he no longer has a row of boards holding it up on our side, right in our berry patch!!

Have a great week all!

Have a great rest day - I understand the concept of being too pooped to participate on certain days. That is okay and you need a down day occasionally too.

Marsh hike, Travel day!

Saturday, April 27, 2013

DD and I planed to hike in the marsh early this morning, after sunrise, so we rose early, had an energy bar, headed to the beach!

Today is Arbor Day so we got there ahead of the crowds, but in tandem with the Arbor Day Foundation traveling museum. We hiked , did not see any beaver, only a frog , about a dozen Golden retrievers being walked and some various birds. One thing I did discover though, was that the critter we saw LAST weekend was not a river otter, but a MINK! A mink is only about 12 inches in length in MIchigan, but the river otter grows between 37"-47" in length. THey have darker coat, but the body shape and tail are almost identical.

We returned , after two hours of hiking, to talk to park rangers and Arbor Foundation workers, got two pine seedlings and left for home.

I would guesstimate we did over 10,000 steps and we are whipped!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The marsh alone was many miles, ,,
I decided it was going to be 73 degrees, too nice to be indoors cleaning as usual, so we changed our clothes, headed north. We went to a big red barn called "Treasures Forever" on US 23 near AuGres,MI . My cousin's stepdaughter owns it. It has three floors of beautiful hand made Amish furniture, Boyd's Bears, candles, , handmade rugs,etc.. Even has a chocolate room with fudge, any hand made chocolate you can dream of!!
My cousin Sharoyn has been promising to drive us up there someday: for the past five years.. so we just did it.

We left there and headed west to West Branch,MI. Visited the old dam house that my parents used to own, had a dam over the lake which is fed by the Rifle river. The editor and three journalists from the Flint Journal, in Flint, MI bought it and as a group named the property the "Dam Club". We had dinner in a ma and pa diner, headed home,, We did see two large does on the side of the expressway about two miles outside of town, two feet from the road when we drove by.
Everybody in MIchigan knows enough to heed brake lights ahead of you, since that is a sign of deer , bear, elk, moose, or is some cases, stupid tourists!

Thursday

Thursday, April 25, 2013

I worked an extra hour today, am very tired now, BUT I got good news in the mail!
I won $50 in the CD drawing at the credit union again! I won it once last year too.

The deal is: Deposit a minimum $25 into your CD(one Year) each week as an entry into a drawing. I just deposit $100 at the beginning of each month. Each month they select one winner for $50. At the end of the year, they draw two names from all of the credit unions that participated, for $10,000. They also draw names for $1,000 twice for . I can win as many times as they pick my name! Fifty dollars does not seem like a lot of money to some, BUT it is like getting a GREAT interest rate for the CD.
I just signed the press release and they have deposited the $$ into my savings account.. like getting two more free entries into the drawings!

The $$ goes towards my emergency fund.

emoticon emoticon LINDA, Money is money !!!

We never could belong to a credit union till recently . You had to be employed by certain corporations or churches, just a year or so ago they have opened them up to the public.
I always thought they were a great idea. Well done for your smart money sense. HUGS Pat in Maine.
Got to hurry HUGS and much LOVE !! emoticon emoticon emoticon

Snow again

Wednesday, April 24, 2013

It started snowing last night, snowed all day.. back to winter again. I actually carry an umbrella, gloves, window scraper, spring jacket, emergency blanket, BEACH things, and jumper cables in my trunk. In one day we get temp changes of 20-60 degrees!
No hiking today, The whitecaps on Lake Huron look like frost on a root beer mug, teh temp dropped 50 degrees.
Happy spring!

OH MY!!! It has to end soon for you, is it always as bad as this yea? ,
My friend in Maine is always raving about Michigan and complaining about Maine. I do not think she went back there this year because of the snow. She and her DH plan to retire back there, I know she does not like the cold and her DH does not either. I dislike the cold but my DH is always hot. I like being warm, friends asked us to go south but I would have to go on my own.
I like Maine so long as I have my electric blanket and three layer I am OK. I hope it gets better for you VERY SOON! emoticon Pat in Maine.

Your pictures of Michigan are beautiful. (Is it Pictured Rocks?) I am from central Michigan but we spend the winter in Brownsville Texas. I don't think I want to head home until that snow and cold weather takes flight! emoticon
