Over the river and through the woods..

Tuesday, April 02, 2013

Today was more errand running, found a new invalid ring for DD at pharmacy, picked up moms mail, into post office to mail packages andbills, back home and fell asleep on keyboard for a couple hours.. no wonder it takes me all day after work to do my thing online, most of it is in my dreams..
chugging water to keep my 10 cup intake.

Good on the water - and with all that activity, you need it... Falling asleep on the keyboard or not, you get more done in a day than most, thinks me. I've said it before and I'll say it again, Linda: I wish I had your gumption!

Car wash day!

Monday, April 01, 2013

When you live in the northern states, you learn early when to wash your car and when NOT TO... Today was not a subzero day, so I really splurged and went through the auto car wash for the ultimate car blaster treatment. I only do it once a year to clear all of the salt and ice-melting chemicals off the car body and under carriage.
I had not been to a pay car wash in a few years since my dealership has their own for courtesy washes for customers, but this place change theirs into all automated one last summer,, I could not believe the difference..
My guy is squeaky clean and so shiny I had to avert my eyes when the sun hit his hood!
Banking, credit union-ing, calls to hospital and insurance company for double billing my E.R workman's comp visit to my personal insurance.. bummer..
People were very nice though and I hope this resolves the issue and I get my hundreds of dollars back to my insurance for real use this year.

Hoping things slow down here this week,, DD is settled, mom has to go through OT assessment and OT, have two birthdays this week, mailing gifts all over the place..

Supposed to get more snow tomorrow.. typical spring weather...

I washed my car today too! Got outside and did it by hand. It's been a long time since it's been washed and it looks 100% better. Here's to clean cars! emoticon

Sounds like a productive day. Good for you. I'm in the South and we have to know when and when not to wash our cars too. For one, whenever I spend the money or a significant amount of time we get endless rain w/ wind so my car end up muddy. But right now we are having a bad pollen issue and my white car is now neon green. Doesn't matter if you wash it or not the pollen will accumulate. As soon as this is over it'll be love bug season. If you dont know what this is let me tell you they are about 1/2 to 1 inch long black insects that come out to mate but do so by attachign themselves to each others' rear but with their heads facing opposite directions. I really thought they were 2 headed bugs when I first saw them. But yeah they end up all over your windshield, hood, grill, etc.....

HE is Risen!

Sunday, March 31, 2013

I rose early, took my shopping list and coupons, dashed out to get groceries quickly before Mass. The church was packed to the stained glass of course.. Eery Christmas and Easter.. Holiday Catholics.
We are just relaxing, laundry, reading paper, sparking. A nice day.

Thank you all for the links and suggestions!
For Debbieanne: THe bleach baths were ordered by three specialists to kill bacteria on her skin. The way this disorder works is, her skin will clear up somewhat, but if she scratches it just once and introduces any bacteria into the dermis,(Second layer of skin) it sets up a systemic infection which her body cannot fight off, since her immune system is compromised.
It is only a half cup to a full tub and she soaks for ten to fifteen minutes. She then showers off the chlorinated water and immediately applies her creams, salves, etc to moisturizes while e her skin is moist.

I am extremely impressed at the level of knowledge, bedside manner and thoroughness of these medical professionals. I worked in every department except ICU and these people are a whole new level of doctors... even the residents seem to have the edge on making you feel heard, making you feel valuable, making you WANT to ask questions and not feel rushed. Nobody is condescending(I refuse to allow anybody to treat me that way) ..

Today we visited mom and I had a care conference with the director regarding mom not contributing to her ADL's,, which adds to the cost of her care to the tune of about $1,000 a month.. She is capable, but naturally blames the staff.. I am having her assessed for OT and let them determine if she can do it or what the next step is for her.

cable guy just left, I had crackling on my phone line,, all is okay,,, The whole day is gone now.. one more day off..

Good Friday

Friday, March 29, 2013

Our gift from above is seeing the sun for two days in a row! I see blue sky and some fluffy clouds!

Busy day at work, just scrubbing and cleaning. DD working on her medical regimen,, bleach baths, creams, making phone calls for doctors and U of M docs.
Going to get some more things for her comfort tomorrow and try to get her skin a little more cleared up for her comfort.

I do know that I learned that I may have to bite the bullet again to get yet another cleaning tool. My knees are shot form scrubbing floors on my hands and knees for years in teh cleaning business. Some homes had 5,000 square feet of tile or hardwoods and I cleaned every inch of them soem days on my knees.
I remember one place when i stood up, I felt blood vessels pop in both knees and they both swelled and turned back and blue immediately. I think that was the day my knees went to pot.

It paid for college and kept us in our home, but the price paid is my old-lady legs now. Oh yeah!! I AM old, haha!!
I think I may have to buy one of those scrubbing doo-hickeys on a stick to clean the bathtub. I have always cleaned everything by hand, no mops or short cuts, getting every corner, but now I know why God takes our vision when we age:so we cannot see the dirt we cannot reach to clean.

going to try to relax for a day tomorrow.. visit mom, pick up her mail and re-set the timer on the light in her living room now that it is still light out at 7 pm.
Everyone have a Blessed Easter!

I'm with NorasPat - I'm trying to learn to be a "satisfizer" rather than a "maximizer" - advice from my DD, lol. It's just so hard to know when it's good enough as opposed to not good enough. In that regard, it's always been black or white to me. Either it's clean, and I mean CLEAN - or it's not.

Try googling Don Aslett. I don't want to be advertising for a company, but besides selling supplies, they have videos that can give you more ideas, and their stuff really does work.
