Mmmmm just as good as it smelled!

Sunday, February 17, 2013

I made the yummy chicken noodle soup with sliders yesterday,,it is all gone!! DD grated and chopped some of the veggies for me, we ate it for two meals and I finished it today when we returned from running errands for a few hours! That soup wa so easy and tasted just as wonderful as it looked and smelled! DD said she did not want any since we have both been living on soup for over two weeks being sick and all! Especially chicken noodle!! LOL! Once it started to simmer and I added the spices, she decided she would try a bowl.
It only makes about 8 cups, but it was great!

I made two dozen blueberry ,muffins, brownies the soup.
We are both feeling better today,, went bargain shopping and got lots of freebies... now she is in the basement organizing our extended pantry. I am sorting through papers to shred and toss, prepping for tax day Wednesday.
We got another two inches of snow last night,, good for the Great Lakes,, so glad I added insulation in my attic last year!!!

I love soup, too!! Tastes good, comforting, not calorie-laden... what more could we ask for!!
I'd like the recipe, too! Do you think it would freeze well? I usually make slow-cooker meals and freeze them (I live alone).

Have a great week, my friend!

I could eat soup every day. I love it! Hungry Girl says replace a meal a day with a nice bowl of broth-based soup to help you lose weight.

I with the help of my 9 yr. old grandson made Chef Meg's 75 Calorie Chocolate Mouse. I made it healthier by using sugar substitute instead of sugar. It was delicious, my grandson was proud to have helped and the people that ate it all said it was delicious as well. emoticon

emoticon OK I have to ask what sliders are.

I am Glad you are both doing so much better. That is good news for sure. It must have been really good to eat after 2 weeks of soup. Was it your own recipe or a Spark people recipe.
Just as the light is going the wind arrives in our neck of the woods.
I will prepare supper now so if we lose power I have something to heat up.
That is my excuse for making soup or stew, my favourite things winter or summer at home or camping I can eat chicken pork or beef and enjoy it. HUGS. STAY WELL both of you PLEASE. emoticon emoticon emoticon

Snowing again, getting colder out,, possible single digits ..
I finally broke down and took half a pain pill along with some Coricidin BP at bedtime.. Slept great, only up twice to visit Johnny!!

After some tax paper searches this morning, I have decided to clean the kitchen up and start baking.. Cookies, muffins, cake.. chicken noodle soup too.. I love to cook and bake and it will heat the house and me, up somewhat!! Got to wear a disposable glove though, until I can get this bandage off my finger!!!! emoticon emoticon

Snowing? Guess what...we have rain today in the evergreen state of Washington. Surprise! Actually, I don't mind the rain because we get rainbows. I always look for the rainbow in everything. I also love to cook. It makes the house smell so good and my husband very happy. LOL! I can really relate to your reluctance to take pain pills. I admire this reluctance. I had a recent bout with coughing and wheezing and refused to take the codeine cough syrup for four days.....finally I broke down and took only a few doses to see me through the coughing spell. I am 507 days sober and I do not want ever to return to addiction. I did not like the immediate dopey feeling I experienced with the cough syrup. I am praying for you today to get better. I love your SparkPage....green is a color I love....especially this dark teal hue. Have a fantastic day!!!! emoticon

Errand day, spent almost all day at dad's house washing stuffed animals and other laundry, organizing receipts, tax papers. Packed more garage sale things, hauled another carload there from home..
There's no place like home.....

Happy Slasher(I mean St. Valentine's Day!

Thursday, February 14, 2013

Obviously I have not spent enough days in the hospital this year, so only two days since my last visit there, I spent the morning in the E.R. this time for me..
I was working on a machine at work and slashed my index finger, spewing blood everywhere, making a deep gash. It is an irregular slash, so instead of stitches, I suggested they glue me back together so I do not have stitches,,
went back to work for an hour, came home,, off next three days.. so happy I wrote out all of those checks yesterday... hard to use my digits for this type of thing with the pointer wrapped in miles of gauze.

So sorry 2013 isn't going well for you. I sure hope this is the last of the crazies for you and yours. So glad that they have that glue available...it is AWESOME!! That is what they used when they did my brain surgery and I loved it. So much better than stitches and staples.
My thoughts and prayers are with you.

I am so happy that by the time I get to work, I am not coughing or sneezing,, When I get home it all riles up and I can take medicine.
I was supposed ot meet friends for dinner at a very nice place this afternoon, but just called to decline,, the coughing jags and etc, are not conducive to that place.. I kept trying to tell them I was sick, that DD was going to E.R, but they persisted,, I am also glad I cancelled..

Dd got major steroids ordered,, 50 mg a day for five days,, the antibiotics should help her feel better by tomorrow.. she also got IM meds before leaving the hospital, so got an extra boost there.

I have learned to be more flexible with mom requiring so much of my time.
So, today I did double duty for catching up on my things,,, left work, drove to township hall to pay hers and my property taxes that are due tomorrow.. went to credit union to move some $$ around, came home started stripping beds, doing laundry( DD skin is falling off in large pieces,,) so treated bedding, bed with dust mite stuff, she vacuumed it,, will vac it again before replacing bedding, laundry is half finished, so I sat and paid mom's bills, balanced both check books,, got another call from her place,, now she needs PT from her last hospital visit and then another nurse called me to tell me that mom again has cellulitis, so home health care will be starting soon on her,,

I hope everybody out there is taking care of themselves and nursing their colds.

Last eyar we never had one cold or any flu or anything,, This year is a doozy for all, according to teh nurses and docs..
