Pain day

Friday, February 01, 2013

It seems like I can go for so long without having a fibro flare up but then, BAM! When I went to bed last night, I all of a sudden felt like the first time I ever went canoeing.. The next day when you wake up and every fiber of your being is screaming in agony. Every joint and muscle is inflamed, I can barely stand up straight, all visible joints are red and hot to the touch.
I want to just go to bed, but I cannot just lie around unless I am deathly ill.. I took a half of a pain pill, am sitting here until I can get through enough of the pain to get on my stability ball to stretch a few things out..
I cannot believe how fast this hit me,,never had it like this before,, I think I want to send my 60th birthday back where it came from...

I am still blessed in that I have a bed, pain pills, etc,,,

Sorry to hear that you are in such pain. I do hope those pain meds help you out along with some of the stretches you are planning. Take care.

Finding the good..

Thursday, January 31, 2013

Today was(not how I perceive it, but actually was)very cold, snowy, windy50mph winds,, dark,

but it was also full of jokes at work, enough money in my account to pay my bills, food in my fridge, heat from my furnace, hot and cold running water, a house that I own outright, a car, safe travel, no bombs dropping, no snipers, good neighbors.
I have flannel sheets, am not living under the bridge and I have a job. Thank you.

Thank you for counting your blessings. I am richly blessed in Christ. It is 7:52 AM and I should get away from my computer and do some Bible reading and praying. It could be much worse when I look at the world news.

Thanks for your comment about Jack, the cat on my blog, "The Look of Love Is In Your Eyes."

Snow then floods!

Tuesday, January 29, 2013

Now our snow is melting slowly, we now have ice and rain, two inches of rain,,, flood warnings out now, more rain to come tonight. January in Michigan.. Two miles from Lake Huron.. not good news.. teh fog is so thick we can barely see the house across the street(fifty feet)

Poor little guys are out eating up our seeds and suet. A family of squirrels at the bottom of my feeder(I made it squirrel proof) and birds covering both sides of it..
DD said that this morning a squirrel had the audacity to attempt to eat off a suet basket I have about one foot from the birdhouse hanging in my red maple tree in the front yard. Every small bird around dive-bombed this guy until he could not stand it and he jumped out of the tree.
Since my feeder is absolutely squirrel-proof(I have never had one on it in eleven years) they are looking long and hard for seeds that fall on the ground after the birds have their fill.

I might 'accidently' drop some seed as I am filling the feeder. Squirrels need to eat, too!

Poor Squirrels, I am the weird one. I feed the crows, i have watched them for so long they amaze me. The neighbours were talking about dogs in the neighbourhood trashing the garbage bags and making a mess. I watched as the crows approached a bag, ripped it open and they dragged out a PIZZA box. They bit every piece of cheese on the lid.
DH roared at their antics.
I do not feed birds there are too many cats in this neighbourhood they are bird catchers not mousers. We had cats that caught mice when I was little but I liked mice too.
We had some very fluffy snow I actually used my MICHIGAN scoop,my trusty tool and did not need the blower. It took me a while. It was 32 degrees and no wind so it was a perfect winter day. NOW we are getting Freezing rain.
Warm air from the south. MT Washington was 32 degrees at the summit.
Arctic blast from Canada and we get freezing rain. we have no reason to go out except it is DH Birthday . HUGS Pat in Maine. Stay DRY I hope HUGS Pat emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon

Squirrels tried to get into our attic last fall. My husband "squirrel-proofed" the hole they started and they seem to have moved on. But I got my husband a t-shirt for Christmas that says, "I have reason to believe the squirrels are mocking me." In his case I think it might be true...

Blizzard MOnday

Monday, January 28, 2013

We got yet another snow/sleet/rain/hail storm last night and this morning. All in the space of a few hours. No school locally,, the roads are clear, slushy and slated,, nowadays they stop school if the weather is too cold OUTSIDE!??!!!!!
I drove to work on the unploughed roads in the dark 40 mph no problem,, but those many-tons buses loaded with bodies might slide a little??? The streets were plowed while it was still dark, way before schooltime..
The kids ride on heated buses, have brand new(My elevated tax dollars at work) HVAC systems, still cannot be there if the weather is cold outside!! Gee, I wonder why non Americans see us as wimpy, snoots that WILL NOT endure any discomforts!! They walk about twenty yards to the bus stop and twenty feet from the bus to the heated buildings.
Next it will be our tax dollars buying them all new coats and boots,, oh, I forgot, we already do that ....
off my soapbox..

England was never so cold when I went to school.
Here in Maine our sons walked to school, we lived one mile from the school and they had to walk. I had no problem with that, the walk did them good. If the early start was too cold i took them there in the car or I walked with them to school. we could chat and I could exercise.

The sign of the times is the problem. there are so many SAFETY rules needed for every eventuality. We are not raising children to be self sufficient. We are allowing society to become distrusting of others and rightly so. I wish it were different but it will not get better any time soon that's for sure.

I grew up in northern Illinois and it was a very rare thing that school would be cancelled because of snow and never because of cold (that I remember anyways)...this on top of getting white washed almost daily at the bus stop by my cousin!

I know what you mean: when I was in elementary school when it was -40 (C) they'd cancel recess, but the school was open. I do believe that the only times our schools (to this day) have been closed due to weather was in '96 when the school was literally buried and it took 2 days to shovel it out.

City people have it easy/hard (I suppose parents have to find child care, etc). So weird!

Where I was, they canceled school if it was too cold due to students who walk to school or wait at bus stops. Even though I would think parents are smart enough to bundle them up appropriately, drive them and wait at the bus stop in a heated car, or drive them to school all together.
